Hi Nishan_101, this is not true, because only because the fighters have the same origin, doesn't meant they use the same spares! F18SH is from Boeing, use the GE 414 engine and APG 79 radar, F35 instead is from LM, use the PW F135 engine and the APG 81 radar. How should these fighters have common spares and maintenance if they are so different? The only commonality they will have, is the same US weapon pack, but even N-LCA, Mig 29K and a future N-FGFA would use mainly the same Indo-Russian weapon mix.

Exactly and so does Rafale and Super Entendards, or Su 33 and 25, or even N-FGFA and Rafale.

First of all, the Super Entendards are still be used for strikes alongside Rafale and will go on for some time, secondly Rafale M just like F35 is only available in single seat versions (Rafale N, because France did not funded it). Regarding the training, just try to find out how the Rafale and F35 pilots train and you will find out the answer.

Go through this thread and you will find good infos about the baval Gripen. EF was considered, because UK made some studies about a naval STOBAR version of the EF in the past, called Sea Typhoon.
Su 33 will not be produced anymore and Russia replace it with Mig 29Ks, IN was interested in a naval version of the MKI, but the Groshkov and the Vikrant will be to small to carry them

Can u paste some pics of Grippen-N and Sea Typhoon with specifications. And im saying that U.S pilots have good experience in landing jets on carrier and they could use F-18B/D/F for training new pilots on F-35C untill the twin seater is not available and french have Super Etendards twin seater as trainer. So what will iNAF be doing for their training if they select Rafael?

simple INAF will order a 2 seater rafeal for training purposes or the second option is use mig 29k trainers for carrier landing training purposes

the question is really indian navy need mig 29

well i think indian navy choose the best may be rafale f18 mig35 f35

how far mig29 has future

we have to select the best of best for IN

What future you are talking about? Are we sure of F-18 and rafale's future?
Mig 29K are extremely potent and true multirole fighters. Even Russia is going to replace it's Su-33 fighters on its aircraft carrier with Mig 29Ks.

Just like connanxlrc1000 said, if USN pilots could use F18SH twin seats for training, IN pilots could use twin seat Mig 29KUBs, before they train on single seat Rafales.
Regarding specs and pics of Sea Gripen, or Sea Typhoon I would request you to take a look at the specs of the land based versions, because the will only differ in some points and by the fact that both naval versions are just paper planes, I don't want to speculate too much.

sir
isnt it would have been great if we have opted 4 mig-35 navel version insted of 29. as its on par with mki.

MIG-35 isn't even a real plane by real plane i mean its chances of getting produced serially in near future is very less..it can enter into serial production earliest by 2014..can we wait till then...?
plus capability wise there isn't much difference..except AESA radar and some other minor things,,

How come the Russian Il-78 is still using the CCCP registration?

Dont they start with RA and RF these days?

CCCP registration ended with collapse of Soviet Union.

No these are new versions of mig29 they are much more advanced than IAF's mig 29. They are true muli role with much higher range, more weapon load and very similar to mig 35 (excluding AESA radar and thrust vectoring). In ability, technology and lethality they are as good as F-16 Block 52.

Hi, the Mig 35 is just a modified Mig 29K with bigger nose to house the AESA radar and TVC nozzels.

Here are some pics of the latest Mig 35 prototypes:

As you can see even the devices to carry a hook:

Here a prototype of the Mig 29K:

sir,
so why navy had not opted for 3-d tvc for mig-29 in this new deal as it would have inhanced its capabiltis.

Good question, which I asked myself before too, but I didn't found out way. Maybe the Russians offer it only if Mig 35 wins MMRCA, maybe the RD 33 MK engines are different in the land based, or navy versions.
Btw, no formalities please, just call me Sancho. :)

Simply it is not available.

The IAF is using MiG-29 for around 23 years now. HAL is having experience on maintaining MiG-29.

MiG-29K was not only cheap compared to Rafael and F-18 but was also easy to maintain/train.
maybe the RD 33 MK engines are different in the land based, or navy versions.

MiG-35 doesn't come with a default TVC engine. RD-33MK in this case. If IAF chooses MiG-35 then the Russians will do R&D and come up with a version of RD-33 with TVC.

The RD-33MK "Morskaya Osa" (Russian: Морская Оса: "Sea Wasp") is the latest model developed in 2001. It is intended to power the MiG-29K and MiG-29KUB shipborne fighters, however it is has also been adopted for the MiG-35. The RD-33MK develops 7% higher thrust, is digitally controlled FADEC and smokeless unlike earlier RD-33 engines, has increased afterburner thrust to 9,000kgf and dry weight 1145 kg compared to the baseline model through modern materials used on the cooled blades, although it retains the same length and maximum diameter. Incorporated is an infrared and optical signature visibility reduction systems. Service life has been increased to 4,000 hours. The RD-33MK ensures shipborne fighters unassisted take-off capability, retain performance in hot climate environment and, naturally, a boost in combat efficiency for MiG-29 fighter latest variant.
