During the cold war both the planes were developed to counter each other and both were said to be basically the same on the basis of specs. But with time, they have developed in rather different ways and are housed by two countries who have been in a situation of war even before they were planned........

Actually is quite the opposite:

In the beginning they were very different planes: F-16 was light fighter-bomber, while MiG-29 was medium frontal fighter.

But with time both developed into medium multirole fighters. Although F-16 is still considerably lighter than MiG-29.

previous record supports F-16 on every front thats why my vote is with F-16....
Russians have headache due to JFT approaching more great capabilities than Mig-29...
well Indian upgraded Migs are far better anyway...

jft has better avionics than mig 29 upg
but in manureablity ceilings etc mig 29 has an edge
equal payload
jft has low rcs around 1-2 m2 fully loaded
mig 29 rcs 3m2 fully loaded

Our Mig 29 would shot 2 BVR less F-16 if they didn't back out from attacking our Mirage 2000 which was bombing Pakistan Army during Kargil skirmish
