Yeah! Be surprised. There are news reports about it. I cant say what army thinking is but Mi-28 is also a distinct possibility.

There is an offer of 3 air defense systems as well. One that I know is Pantsir, short range air defense and the other two that I m not familiar with the names. See the link below

Mi-35M is a brand new helicopter. The last one in the order was received by Brazil just last month.

I think you are ancient and have a mental block as well. Its just like saying Chinook is a helicopter from 50s. If India buys brand new Chinooks, will someone say it bought junk from 50s?

The first MI-24 to the MI-35M is a large leap in capabilities. The MI-35M is an evolution from the MI-24 in which it evolved into a super predator. The MI-24 has constantly been redesigned, improved and upgraded, during the war in Afghanistan engineers came to Afghanistan to study and evaluate the MI-24s performance and week points, they even spoke to pilots. The capabilities in terms, armament, protections, and reliability all increased drastically by the the end of the Afghan war. The MI-24 seen radical changes and upgrades during the 1980s, the MI-35M has gone even further, it has a higher service ceiling, it's lighter, it has a better ECM suit, new avionics and countless other upgrades.

The one thing to MI-24 and MI-35M have in common is that they look similar.
