It is high time that Army Aviation should revisit and have a high level review of the maintenance routines and specifics, including personnel and practices.

And like one member pointed out the mi17 is too fat to be mauevarable in the mountains of north pakistan , it's only use is to get meddical supply to the remote parts of Russia

First of all im sad i wrote also about it to slowly we should replace them but no one was serious see we loose brave soldiers like stupid mistakes

Human life cannot be replaced but MI 17 can should be the main thing to work on

We bought these MI 17 decades ago even if we upgrade they are no good instead low on our budget army should bring a road map of replacing 3 Mi 17 a year would not be to hard on economy and in 5 years we get new helos

And people who always do ronna dhona of maintanance etc will be hard for new helo so we are doing mi 17 maintanace we can do for new too when it is about human life we should not talk rubbish

No thing ever be used forever MI 17 one way or other get replaced it us to decide do we want to replace them by crashes and lost of lifes or we save some lifes and sell those mi 17 to african nation atleast we sell 4 we can buy 1 new of that amount too

Mi 17 are becoming killers now. We lost only some months ago brilliant doctors from AMC in a crash and previously ambassadors from friendly countries.
I think there is an element of human error as well in Army aviation. The pilots choose the Army aviation after PMA rather than direct selection as Airforce which selects candidates for the standards of flying which is not the case for Army Aviation. Not to take anything away from the heroics of Army aviation pilots though whose courage and flying skills are renowned world over.

The MI-17 is a wonderful bird, a true workhorse and one which has served us in an essential capacity during our operations in FATA, clocking several thousand flight hours faster than anywhere else on the globe. Since these birds serve as the workhorses and make the most sorties, it is only a matter of statistical probability that there should be more crashes.
The incident in point did not result due to a 'crash' but due to a collapse of the landing gear, a spontaneous event brought on by sheer bad luck but that is more common in the aviation industry than many people outside of the world of aircraft can acknowledge.

There is a very rough and hard test which the candidates have to go through just like The PAF candidates give, it is called flight aptitude test which screens out anyone who is not capable of flying so no error there, the mi 17 is doing ton more sorties than any aircraft in the world that is why we hear these unfortunate news every now and then.

PA and PAF operating lot of heli's with different spec, but Mi-17, crashing with heavy casualties on routine basis.
Other countries also using Mi-17s, even Mi-17 is the most common transport heli used in the world, but in Pakistan, Mi-17 crashing not routine basis!

PA and PAF must consider the point.

If only ispr was as efficient as def pk's mods at covering up these "technical glitches".

So instead of cowardly having my post deleted, why didn't you answer my question?

I've checked weather satellite for 1500GMT +/- 5 hours and the weather was unremarkable so that rules out a 'spontaneous' weather 'event'.

Sade news, Ina lilahe wa ina elehe rajion.

Never said it was a weather related issue, it was a landing gear collapse.

PS. Your last post was also deleted because of your personal attacks, kindly stick to making a point and don't be obnoxious.
