I don't think they're racist. It's just a human nature, we feel threatened when someone else comes and shares our place or resources.

This has happened everywhere. When my grandpa first came to the UK in 1970s he wasn't treated nicely. In fact he used to tell us how they had go to work in a group because if any Indian or Pakistani was found alone he would be beaten badly. But time changes. The city [Leicester] which I live in right now has 30% of South Asian population. I mean today in my area white people get looked down upon as if they don't belong here. So it's quite funny and at the same time bit racist as well.

Even in US this was common when first Indians went there. There was a gang called 'dot busters' but right now there are 3 million Indians living in America and now Americans know who Indians are.

Australia has only started attracting immigrants just now so this is new give it some time this would die out soon as well.

it seems the only indians that are crying racism here in Australia are the ones that are fresh off the boat. While the ones who are multi generational born here dont have any problem at all ( like myself)

Australia is easily the most racist nation I have ever been to, not talking about all Australians but a good majority view any colored people like slaves and below their level. When I went to Sydney last year to visit some relatives, the stories they told me were really out of this world. If the same thing were to happen in Canada, the Desi crowd would put the city on hold but sadly in Australia and New Zealand also, South Asian and African voices are not allowed onto mainstream media.

If the replies on the forum are a cross section there is a hell of a lot more Desi bashing of Australians than i ever saw of racisim towards Indians in Australia.

The differences are - one is targeting the entire west and was made during the pre-2008 buildup to the Olympic. The other was pretty much written because someone got upset with some punk radio dj's. The contrast is kind of huge. Just imagine if us Chinese have to write about such thing and publish them about every bit of sadness they come in contact with in life be it racism, discrimination or social injustice? It's simply too much, so why bother responding to haters so emotionally? like they will change their minds? things haven't changed a great deal since the sob story thing was written in 2008.

Indians should take a leaf out of the Chinese and don't waste anymore time on it. Self-pitying will not change anything, the only thing that can cure these problems is to change yourself and become greater. Being greater, wield more power, command more respect and then the embarrassment is on them.
