Russian ARMY will be a Muslim majority by 2020, it was 40% last stated by 2004 during Putin's visit to what he called "Islamic Conference" to fix up the military ranks and put them in low position for an obvious reason. However quality is more important than quantity.
So imagine if Soviet didn't exist and what would the population look like from the 50s till now and not in 1990 despite having religion banned under communism?
Russia entirely will be a Muslim majority in a few decades like 2040 but more importantly is the military because it's an opportunity to co'operate with former Soviet Muslim countries and more freedom for ethnic minorities and Russia Muslims since Russia is the biggest anti Muslim bigot anyway.

Again,the figures here are wrong. As for russia being muslim majority .Not possible .The only places having huge birth rates is chechnya. Unless ,you are expecting more central asians coming to russia ,then yes it is possible that russia might achieve muslim majority.

Silantyev stated most of the converts are Muslims by birth who were non-practicing, while Muslims who regularly attend mosque rarely convert. He said that the conversions happen not so much due to proselytization but instead due to the influence of the dominant Russian culture, which is Orthodox Christian.[11] Silantyev also claimed that that as confirmed by many sources including Muslim sources, after every major terrorist incident conducted by Islamic extremists in Russia, thousands, or possibly even tens of thousands of Muslims convert to Christianity. For example, Silantyev noted that after the Beslan School Massacre in North Ossetia, the proportion of Muslims in North Ossetia decreased by 30%, while in Beslan itself, where Muslims had comprised between 30 to 40% of the population, their number has decreased at least by half.[11]
