What's new

Men wearing skirts.

.
And I can't help to post this. I am continously accused of being athiest. I am a secularist. I believe in religion being a internal force for good. Not turned into a political brand. This is my daughters after mosque. modesty is a quality that should be nurtured from young. Later the hijab is not neccessaey if the mind is modest.

So keep it simple. Keep it easy. Got a chicken with skin and glazed it with olive oil. Dash of lemon, paprika and salt. Heap of salad. And great stuff. Kids appreciated it. Although was told they going to start quacking if they have more chicken. So meat. Tender Lamb meat saturday.

Okay guys. My wife/mum have gone to Pakistan to visit relatives in particular my centurion grandmother. Anyway this means I am wearing the 'skirt' so to speak. Proof that I have come a long way from my youth when I was a brat, misogynist to boot. Over the succeeding 40 years I am a mature [or iI should like to think so] and think women are the better half of the human experiance. Well I had few daughters so that chastened me.

So I would like this thread to be about cooking. Yes cooking recipes. I am a rather good cook so I would like to share my recipe for Chicken Karahi with you guys that I made today.

Ingedients.

1.5 kg Boneless Chicken
1 tbs Cumin Seeds
2 tbs spice mix - mine is already prepared by wife. No idea what goes into it.
Half block of butter/ Olive oil to taste.
3 large salad chillies
1 bell pepper red.
half clove of garlic
2 chopped onions - large.
Kasuri Methi
plum tomatoes - canned.

Oh and grab yourself a apron and a stool if your old. Place the stool next to the cooker so you can chill 'an cook. Play some music to relax while your at it. So ready, steady go ...

Masterchef with apron aka your 'Kaptaan'.

If old. Place stool strategically. Not too close that you end up with clothes on fire but close enough so that you can see what's cookin. If young stand and dance while cookin.

And that was delicious. My kids certainly appreciated this.
RIP chicken karahi
Man you murdered my favorite dish. Not just the shape of it ,also the ingredients were not the ones used for this dish.

. . .
There are some people who would murder anybody who puts their cooking down. Think Hells Kitchen. But I will spare you. Do give us your 'fantastic recipe' though.

In UK i am almost certain you will find the right ingredients from pakistani shops.Though i doubt the spices will be as strong as i find in pakistan. The recipe i am going to share i tried and cooked it bymyself several times. You will like it too.It gives a taste of a karahi you will get in road side hotels on pakistani highways.

The recipe
Memo "can't read Urdu".

Ps. The recipe I use is a family 'hand down' and is what we ate as kids. No fancy ukky yukky stuff. Simple. Straight. That way there are million recipe on Youtube but they are all from so called chefs or commercial. I am only interested in authentic simple stuff.
