One of the finest examples of empowered women in Pakistan is Ms. Zahida Kazmi. The 53-year-old female from Islamabad works as a taxi driver. In 1992, she decided to take her fate in her hands and bought a taxi on easy installment through a government initiated employment scheme.

Zahida Kazmi’s husband passed away when she was only 33. Instead of relying on relatives...

wow... she is a taxi driver since 1992... she really started something worth emulating.

ladies should be independent earners and know the world... only that will make them give their children a good home education.

i hope she is soon able to launch a company which has solely female drivers... it will contribute to evolution of pakistani mainstream culture.

The irony is no one in Pakistan promotes such stuff! Women have to battle on their own to get empowered. Lesser opportunities are available for females belonging to lesser/ underprivileged backgrounds.

If you read the article, it says that she did offer driving lessons to females, but only a few people showed interest.
