Noob Question- Has anybody heard about special group?? they are a offset of SFF but they consists entirely of Indians and i heard they are structured like the SAS and they are ultra secret...can somebody help me with this?? Is it true or jus some fake fan boy stuff??

its not just that its a mixture of the best of SFF and para(SF) personnel who join the group after extra training the R&AW calls it special group and the para(SF) call it 22 special forces.

major udai singh(RIP) of 1 para(SF) was a part of 22 SF.

Just to add: they model themselves in a similar way to SAS in a "SQD" fashion: BOAT,AIR, MOUNTAIN but are all cross trained and able to handle any scenario.

I believe this unit is primarily used as RAW's equivalent of the CIA's SAD whilst the IA utilises there own SF assets.

^^^ the SFF is comparable to the ISA or the SAD of the CIA and JSOC they are trained for covert operations deep behind enemy lines and they work under RAW there is a reason why SFF operatives faces are not shown in pictures or other news articles because they're work is very secret

another thing is that gone are the days when SFF meant only tibetan's,the force is comprised of indians from every nook and corner of the country.i think the SFF and special group/22SF are the most secretive unit in india, just the same for SAD,ISA they are definately more secretive than delta and devgru.

True, pictures/articles of SFF SG/22SF are almost impossible to find (putting aside a few pics from 1960s when the force was raised) and details a VERY hard to find about them. Similar story with SAD- strength/function/training/missions/deployments are all unknown. Probably nest this way- let the enemy, to their detriment, find out about them during wartime.

this is by far the hottest thing i have seen till now:

delta force training video - YouTube

this is the real thing, this was long back the recruitment video of delta force shown to rangers and green berets during recruitment time.the modified guns, the kit,the skill it wreaks of delta force.

even then the SAS,MARCOS ,the first 2 para SF units remain my favourite SF

IA PARA SF training is now being standardised so soon all should be equally well trained and capable, able to operate in any environment (similar to MARCOs who train to fight anywhere anyplace) as opposed to previously where PARA SFs specialised in certain environments. But also 21 PARA (SF) in NE has a lot of experience so they're pretty good too:

Check out these guy's skills (should be representative of all IA SF):

To be effective any special forces shoud have 3 things
1. Human capability - All SFs around the world including so called third world countries are staffed with best of their soldiers, highly trained and committed. So no difference here between any SFs
2. Equipment & training - Western SFs have an advantage with access to cutting edge equipment & gadgets. Other countries like India has improved considerably with access to advanced weapons available commercially.
3. The most important one is the intelligence & situational awareness available to the SFs. In this point Western ones definitely have a wide advantage. We always have highly capable individuals but our intelligence capability and situational awareness is way below cutting edge.
