Meesha Shafi calls out designers for staying silent since her allegations against Ali Zafar

Versatile singer and actor Meesha Shafi has once again spoken about the sexual harassment issue, and this time she is calling out all the designers of the Fashion Industry who have remained silent since her allegations against Ali Zafar.

She responded to a male model Mujahid Rasool’s post – who criticized the culture of harassment in the fashion industry and the exploitation of male talent by male gatekeepers – and said that “Friends who have used me to make their hideous clothes look good for over a decade, is this why you’re quiet?”

She then in another tweet, paid gratitude to those who supported her. She stated, “The support I’m getting from strangers is life changing and overwhelming. At a time when those I have considered friends, worked with, helped, supported and lent a shoulder to cry on in trying times, have vanished, I thank you all for being my strength. Ever grateful,”

Rasool took the matter to Instagram using hashtag #metoo and #wetoo, the model in a series of posts said, “I have been struggling in this field for 7-8 years which has been an experience full of harassment.”

Meesha had also tweeted in support of Rasool on Thursday. “Proud of him for speaking up! Silence does not lead to change,” she had said.

In the series of tweets, Shafi slammed a Twitter user who said that Meesha was not an ordinary woman, she could have spoken the first time Ali harassed her but she stayed silent.

In response to this Meesha said, “I am no ordinary woman, so I can’t be harassed? Please go over the list of Hollywood names that spoke up. And when the ordinary women spoke up, response was/is, ‘oh whatever, no other woman of note has come forward’. You just want to go back to the status quo. Not happening!”

Few days back a male model alleged some bigwig designers, content ceator at a production house, a famous photographer and showbiz persianlities of demanding sexual favors from male models in exchange for work. This guy came out and wrote about it with new hashtag called #WeToo following #MeToo hashtag. So #WeToo is now basically a hashtag for men.

Anyways Meesha came out to support this guy on twitter. Usually when someone enjoys repute of a harasser it is known in the industry circles but not disclosed in public. So perhaps designers from the industry were aware of ali zafars repute but no one spoke out. So now that this male model has accused designers for asking for sexual favors, Meesha teased industry designers that since you people urselves ask for sexual favors from newcomers,male models and manipulate them thats the reason u remained silent and didnt come out in her support when she talked abt ali zafar

Agree on filth part. I think this gay bigwigs as producers,directors, mainly designers influx has made it hard for male models. But i think it had not been filthy like this always the tv and fashion modelling industry. Maybe in past few years things have gotten more and more worst. Also nowadays many gay men have gained important positions in fashion industry ;in fact to be honest i feel (icud be wrong tho) fashion industry has been raised mostly by men accused of having gay tendencies,which has made the problem worst.

As of support part everyone is supporting everyone ,then no, on our side people dont support others cause they fear losing their own business. Pakistan fashion n tv industry is still not big and their artists openly say that speaking negative of each other will make hard to survive in small fraternity. Its very rare to happen and usually people support that party which is strong and influential even if they are in the wrong. If humayoon today molests a woman and she accuses him of it, 95 pc industry will only come and support humayoon.

Now u will try to paint leena ghani as a whore too even tho one cant find her nangi party pictures on net and despite that shes a makeup artist not an actor or model or singer.
