1.Mauritius, an island of Madagascar, is strategically important. However, it does not maintain a military. Law and order / internal security is looked after by the Police. With 48% Hindu / Indian origin population, Mauritius really considers India the mother nation. While Western MNCs are the leads in the sugar industry, Indians are leaders in textile and consumer commercial sector of the nation. Tourism industry still sees a lot of French presence, but Indians are moving in slowly. Actually I must confess, by Indians I may be including the local Indians also.

2.The Muslims at 18% are also substantial in numbers. Since Ahmadi Jamat is powerful here, Muslim society of Mauritius are divided.

3. As the leader of SA Muslims, Pakistan should have been more active in the economy and politics of Mauritius.

Who gave pakistan that title? Why Bangladeshi or Indian muslim will follow Pakistan's example?Pakistan is no more or less then any other muslim majority country. So why?

Pakistan actually earned that role in 1947. In spite of what happened in 1971 the ground reality is that only Pakistan is able to, and does, come forward to stand by SA Muslims in distress. Unfortunately my current govt feels shy even to show up properly at an OIC summit.

pakistan is the leader of muslims of south asia. Bangladesh cant really dispute that
We are not in this leadership business. We rejected religion based nationality in 1971.So we don't claim as the custodian of south asian muslim nor we recognize such a role by Pakistan.

No they were right for their period.Otherwise we would not get independent Bangladesh in 1971.:D

Leader of Muslims in SA ?

The fact that your nation exits undoes this preposterous sycophantic claim.

not really, if the adhere to ideology of Pakistan .. for example self rule is better then Indian hindu rule which can never accept prosperity of Muslims of south asia, which every Bengali accept wholeheartedly hence Bangladesh is still an independent state.. secularism or moderate Islamic state (which we were untill ZA bhutto surrender to Mullahs in 1973 constitution and Zia fueled it as well) was also Quaid e Azam's vision.. which Bengali accept as well..

As far as relation with Pakistan is concern, we have best relations with them during non Awami league rule..

At the outset Indian rule applies to India & hence is beyond the purview of this topic. BTW , its not Hindu rule- its the rule of those elected.

Next, the point that BD broke off from Pakistan says that what Pakistan did internally was unacceptable.

Lastly, the subject of discussion was a poster who is holier than the Pope as far as loyalties to Pak is concerned addressing Pak as the leader of Muslims in SA which is a non starter.

I smell some arse burning in here.

The fact that Bangladesh exists is because of the hindu supremacist mindset that doesn't want Muslims united. They conspired to divide the muslims based on provincial lines. If there were no Pakistan, Bangladesh wouldn't even exit....

Pakistan is the product of a collective effort of most of the subcontinents muslims together, punjabis, bengalis, hindustani, sindhis, pathan, etc. and so by default the identity implies that the muslims are leaders of their own fate and equal stakeholders of their socio-economics and cultural heritage. Our ancestors rejected the hindu raj and supremacy, and we will continue their legacy.

Thats what makes Pakistan the sole de-facto leader of the muslims of south asia. That's why it is fighting for the rights of kashmiris to this day for 50+ years. But the hindu supremacist do not want to see the muslims of south asia united together and flourish socio-economically.
