In case of earthquake, so far, there are no single indicators to predict it accurately.
Your previous post in which you had mentioned that a series of smaller earthquakes can prevent a larger earthquake, then I was reminded of the L’Aquila earthquake, which came after tremors and less powerful earthquakes. A geologist, I guess, had predicted back then, using radon gas, that a bigger earthquake is possible. But since he could not predict when it would happen nobody took him seriously. Consequently, many precious lives were lost due to earthquake that year.
Another method could be to check the variation in earth's magnetic field. But I am not sure if any one the methods can predict the time of earthquake accurately.
Yes, I was talking about magnitude on ritcher scale.
