Burma kicked out lots of foreigners at a time. Half of Rangoon's population used to be Indian, they were kicked out. India took them in.

Also, to say UN has been ignoring Burma's human rights record is a self serving joke. Even US had slapped serious sanctions against Burma and only now they are trying to bring them out of isolation so that they can be pursuaded to open up. “The requirements are that their grandparents and parents must have lived here and died here, that the applicant was born here and can speak the Burmese language, and that he or she wants to live here, among other things,” he said.
