A mufti along with five others involved in the stoning of a couple was arrested in Loralai district of Balochistan on Monday.
A woman and a man were stoned to death on suspicion of having illicit relations. The orders were given by two muftis without holding any investigation over the matter. No funeral prayers were offered for the couple.
The district administration arrested the cleric who gave fatwa against the married couple along with the other five people involved in the incident.
Loralai DC Abdul Waheed Kakar told the media that the incident occurred four days ago, adding that the brother of the woman has also been arrested.
Balochistan home minister Sarfraz Bugti said there were two muftis who gave fatwa against the couple. One of them was arrested, he added.
The district administration has also requested for autopsy and exhumation.
