Tejas Mk2 – India’s upcoming indigenous Beast (defencexp.com)
This will replace both the Jaguar & the Mig29 once indiction starts in 2027 -2028
Should learn from Tejas project management experience. With proposed changes its basically a whole new aircraft and should be treated as such. You only try to build something yourself if, your desired solution doesn't exist, no one is willing to sell what you want or you believe you can make it cheaper. It will delay AMCA as well since will take up engineering resources that could have been diverted there. These specs might sound ok for now but problem with InAF/HAL is that by the time its flying in 2028-30 InAF will revise the requirements based on new threats and technology developments. This is what happened with current variant.

Should rather concentrate on current Mark-1A airframe, its future upgrades and AMCA.

Just theoretical but Novi Avion a cancelled project by Yugoslavia could have been restarted by HAL. It had technical assistance France so looks similar to a single engine Rafael.

you have really good point.
by the time mark2 come out to foc it will be 2030. and the threats will be 5th generation

should we just jump.straight to Amca and rope in dassult or Lockheed Martin.

and possibly buy more interim.rafales ie x 40 or 50 more ..keep the mig29 and mirage2000 until.2035.

too many option each has disadvantages and advantages

I do.agree mark 2 will.eat time resources and delay Amca and Air Force will keep.moving mark 2 goalposts as pak and China induct new platforms in 5th gen category by 2030.

I don't think we are headed in right direction. Focus should be on developing a decent engine first, that's what holding us back. We are already self reliant in airframe, radars, avionics and missiles.

please don't say we are self sufficient in anything the natives, will get restless lol
You are blatantly lying now and contradicting yourself, it's pointless arguing. According to below link HAL only just conducted Maiden test flight of FOC version, but you are saying 20 are already in service. You are BLATANTLY LYING

no lies,here buddy

21 seriel production fighters produced to date
16 in first squadron flying daggers,no45
4 In second squadron no 18

basically a new jet
which is the right approach (as tejas was simply inadequate) if you have time
but does IAF has luxuary to wait..no

it needs jets yesterday not 2030

IAF should have simlpy signed on gripen NG to get the numberrs up by 2030

now it will spend another 10 yrs on MWF when its time to spend on 5th gen fighter development

just because you induct a aircraft for taken purposes doesnt mean its ready or useful

regarding your question . re initial operational clearance tejas these are same as your chinease supplied thunder block 1
the final.operational clearance is same as your block 2 thunders

our mark1a will be same as your thunder block 3 currently being tested in chengdu .
that's,the best analogy I have

Don't start back peddling now and admit you were caught lying. You listed 20 FOC planes in service, now you are claiming something else. You got caught red handed, have some honour (if that is possible with you) and admit you made a mistake.

In that case the IAF would rather go for F21, as the Gripen too uses American engine and that would mean the Americans pulling the strings.

Same can be said about your jf17s

That is correct!!

I read the final design will be freezed and revealed in 2021 Aero India and the metal cutting will begin in the 2nd half of 2021 which will go for about 18 months for the assembly and the first prototype will be unveiled in early 2022 for the first flight.

I hope Rafale is the last foreign fighter aircraft that India inducts and in this new decade all of these new fighters should stick to its deadline and get inducted - WMF, TEDBF and AMCA

Eh?
What engine does MWF (tejas 2) uses? Enlight us?

Jf17 will be back bone 70% of fleet
Tejas 1 will barely be 2 squardons for 40sq airforce

I think GE F414

Yes because you aren't getting anymore f16s.

5 squadrons actually.

which is same as gripen, so saying gripen use GE engine is cause for its being out favored idiotic

7 squadrons 140 produced with total contract for 188, with expected numbers to go to 250 or 70% of fleet
vs 80 contracted just `5% if IAF fleet, pretty much a token induction to keep some highr up happy..a wrong decision, IAF should have scrapped tejas 10 years ago and went for MWF tejas 2 10 years ago, it would have been ready then by 2023-2035

now if they start working it wont be ready before 2035

f16s are on offer, usa congress approved it, just google it, they just blocked them for free

Proves that MK1 design was a failure.
everyone knows that..
mk1 had no space for canards, and delta design like that without canards have issues

problem was HAL didnt accepted the problem and never tried to fix it, now after 20 years since firts flight of tejas they accepted it but its too late to developa naother aircraft from scratch

they need to get gripen if they are atall serious to coutner china threat

mk2 will not be fully ready by 2035..(if we are lucky)
