It would not turn into a civil war. They dont have that kind of firepower. But what they do have is a fringe political support from some bigwigs and the so called "intelligentsia" from the ultra-far left. And that is why these naxals still exist. But make no mistake, the majority of Indians condier them terrorists, the GoI has classified them as terrorists and banned their political party.

Ambushing and killing security forces is understandable but why would they resort to derailing a train unless there were large number of Soldiers on board. Members here argue that the Maoist are no terrorist set up but if this is their way of protesting than what in India is regarded as a terrorist act is any body's guess.

How is that justified? Those personnel who make up the security apparatus are also common people who work to earn their livelihood!! Its akin to justifying TTP attacks on Pakistan's armed forces. Blasphemous!

Bringing a gun to what is basically a political problem just escalates confrontation while deteriorating security leading to a chain reaction of attacks and counter attacks. Its the common man who suffers in this cat-&-mouse game of greed for power by either ideologically or politically driven individuals. People who pick up the gun are but "common man", just like those who work for the government are also "common man". Its those at the top who misguide the innocent and the misinformed to do their bidding in their mad quest for power.

As to your comment about Indians defending naxals, show me who is defending those sh!theads and my compatriots and I will lobby the admins/mods for their ban! FYI, Naxals are branded as Terrorists by GoI.

GOI has asked them to join political movement in democratice country and even declared ceasefire while back but Maoists wants nothing to do with that. There mandate is to over throw democraticly elected Indian Government and take over in 50 years.

I don't think force alone will do the trick to tackle the Naxalism... They are a part of India and formed by a majority tribals... They should participate in the democratic political system and be elected. Although the state governments in these areas have expedited the development projects in these backward areas... but if the Naxals continue to disrupt any development activities undertaken by the respective state governments, then no one can help them. This is the reason why the Home Minister had requested naxalites to give up arms and then negotiate with the govt. Why would anyone not want these areas to be developed... there are tremendous potential in these mineral rich areas. If they cooperate with the govt, then these areas have the potential to become some of the richest areas of the country.

Exactly, Arundhati Roy and her ilk are wholly absent when the Maoists attack civilians, but the w..re will be the first one to protest as soon as the GoI retaliates.
