Manmohan Singh named among Obama's closest pals.
By ANI | ANI – 1 hour 36 minutes ago

Washington, Jan 20 (ANI): Manmohan Singh, the Prime Minister of India, is one of the five world leaders whom US president Barack Obama considers to be his nearest and dearest pals on the global stage.

Other leaders whom Obama counts as friends include German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, South Korean President Lee Myung-bak and British Prime Minister David Cameron.

"I mean, I think that if you ask them, [they] would say, we have a lot of trust and confidence in the President. We believe what he says. We believe that he'll follow through on his commitments. We think he's paying attention to our concerns and our interests," the Global Post quoted Obama as telling Time Magazine's Fareed Zakaria in an interview.

"And that's part of the reason why we've been able to forge these close working relationships and gotten a whole bunch of stuff done," he said.

Obama also revealed that he admires the foreign policy of his predecessor, George W Bush.

"I continue to believe that he managed a very difficult period very effectively," said Obama. (ANI)

I just love how the Media likes to twist and turn the words around (especially hilarious is the nearest and dearest pals). Read the entire interview Inside Obama’s World: The President talks to TIME About the Changing Nature of American Power and the mentioned question and received answer
But have you been able to forge similar relationships with foreign leaders? Because one of the criticisms people make about your style of diplomacy is that it’s very cool, it’s aloof, that you don’t pal around with these guys.
I wasn’t in other Administrations, so I didn’t see the interactions between U.S. Presidents and various world leaders. But the friendships and the bonds of trust that I’ve been able to forge with a whole range of leaders is precisely, or is a big part of, what has allowed us to execute effective diplomacy.

I think that if you ask them, Angela Merkel or Prime Minister Singh or President Lee or Prime Minister Erdogan or David Cameron would say, We have a lot of trust and confidence in the President. We believe what he says. We believe that he’ll follow through on his commitments. We think he’s paying attention to our concerns and our interests. And that’s part of the reason we’ve been able to forge these close working relationships and gotten a whole bunch of stuff done.
What the heck does Friendship and trust got to do with being nearest and dearest pals ? Sheer mealy-mouthing at its best.

You know what they say about a man's best friend.
You should be ashamed of saying this. Shows your maturity.
Dr Manmohan Singh is one of the most qualified leaders out there and this is your way of lashing out on him? He is also among the most respected people in the world.
I dont know how you find it. But me, as an Indian find it very offensive. Learn to respect knowledge and the learned. I hope you understand.

And yes, if you wanna troll, you can troll all you want. But you cant deny the fact that we have the most qualified Prime Minister.

Singh is Gandhi's lapping dog. He's most qualified in turning a blind eyes to corruption.

Manmohan is Obama's closest closet pet.
making a fun of a leader which is a highly qualified man is totally wrong BTW one day ur former leader SHAH was also closet ally

Mr singh personally warned G bush to dissuade isreal from striking iran .We admire iran & it's people & wont support any military
action against iran ,but this kind of childish statement wont serve no purpose:bad:

there is a saying "those people's whose houses are made of glasses dont throw stones at other's house "
so u should introspect which country is the real pet of america .

It is bewildering to talk of international diplomacy as if it were a scene from a class of 12 year olds with issues of best friends and btiches...
we have been close to a lot of countries but never have we let an inch of our territory to any country to operate from....never have we let a horde of secret agents of any country roam and man our streets killing our own citizens at times...never have we fought their wars...we have been in control and all such alliances have helped us as much as they have helped the other countries...
can you apply the same logic to the case of Pakistan?

what does it have to do with Manmohan being Obama's friend?

is it not nice that Obama finds Manmohan a valueable friend? both are very smart and articulate. what does it have to do with WoT and our involvement in it?

Well, no real harm in world leaders being friends right?

Nixon and Indra Gandhi anyone?

That's how the poisonous embrace of the Americans begin. Ask Iran, Pakistan, Saddam's soul, Ngo Din Diem, Pak Chung Hee - and many others.
