Rubbish. Madhesis situation is similar to the Tamil situation in Sri Lanka and if India do not intervene, India will be forced into another situation like what happened in Sri Lanka or Bangladesh with pakistan started discriminating against BD.

Any matter that will affect India now or in the future is our business and history and wisdom dictate India intervene to secure our Future.

Its their internal matter only as long as it does not affect us. Similar to Chinese Submarine given berth in Sri Lanak or similar to Cuba giving shelter to Russian Missiles.
OK. Then be upfront about it and be public about these concerns. What Indian Foreign Office is doing is to claim blockade is out of its hands. If India wanted blockade to stop, it would have stopped. This behind the curtain negotiations are seen as arm-twisting by Nepalis. And India gets labeled as a hegemonic power. Just see what Nepalis are thinking about the Madhesi issue now.

More Rubbish. To be upfront about it is to Openly interfere in Nepal's matter and exasperate the already volatile situation.

India has done ZERO blockade, ALL Blockade was done by the Madhese and the Nepal govt. to cover their INCOMPETENCE blamed India as a convenient scrape goat.

No Truck Driver or Truck Owner will willingly drive into an area where there is a danger of his truck being burnt or him being Killed. Indian Govt. CANNOT force ANYONE to take that Risk so that Nepal can get Cheap Petrol and abuse their own people while Blaming us for it.

Nepal is cutting its nose to spite its Face, similar to Pakistan does and similar to what Sri Lanka did. Its not our Fault. We just happens to live in a shitty neighbour hood so now have to cover all our base.

Well. India IS interfering. And Nepalis know it. There is no point in hiding it. I did not say India blockaded Nepal. But Madhesis are emboldened by Indian support when they strangle their own country.

Hi

I was watching To the point talk show of Karan Thapar where I came across several statements from the captioned gentleman which would in less liberal countries result in sedition charges being slapped against him.

Few of the Gems are:

1. Indian actions vis-a-vis Nepal, Pakistan, Srilanka and Mynmar show that India under Modi has been conducting itself as hegemon.

2. Pakistan had stopped encouraging infiltration and terrorism in India under UPA Govt - 26/11 anyone?

3. Allusions that Gurdaspur attack was staged.

4. Justifying current levels of infiltration on disengagement by Modi.

5. Justifying Pakistan's narrative on Ufa debacle. Talks were meant on all issues. Modi made a mistake by not including Kashmir which was unfair to Pakistan

6. Pakistan had been diligent in prosecuting Lakhvi and company under UPA - why was the trial not finished then?

I stopped watching after that.

Give me a good reason, why we dont have?

It's a frightening thought that this guy Mani Shankar could be back in the cabinet in 2019 !

I can just see it

Pappu as PM
Mani as foreign minister
kurshid in charge of defence
one of Lallus sons in finance
Azam khan in home.
Mr and Mrs Priyanka as president of congress.

The logical result of the famed intelligence ( more likely lack thereof ) of the Indian voter.
Don't make me frightened man, if this scenario becomes reality, then we Hindus have to seek asylum/refuge in america, god save us from these people, i would never like my children live in a country ruled by these mad people.

I doubt if the Madhesis give a fk about what India thinks. Sure they appreciate the bit of moral support that Indian provides, but they care more about their LEGAL RIGHTS in Nepal.

If Nepal will strangle them, its foolish of Nepal to think the Madhesis will not return the Favour.

Don't have what? Dialogue with Pakistan? To start with, tell me, whom should we talk to in the first place, their PM, Army chief or ISI? Who in Pakistan has the final word?

Will you please also post the news about the national outcry which followed after each of those news, and the news about how were they released from jail soon after that, then ending up in shows like Big boss.

You misunderstood him.
He is saying as rising power why we should not have hegemonic aspirations .

sure, there was national outcry but by the progressives, whether in the media or in activism circles, though a lot of the media seems to have been hostile... this is a recollection by his wife ( After being jailed: the nightmare for Binayak Sen’s family ).

my point was about (a). anti-human laws that have no reason to exist in 2015, (b). use of them by nationalist fake-patriots and corrupt state governments to oppress the progressives.

I agree with 1. India has been pushing around Nepal which is bad behaviour towards a neighbor. Nepalis do see us as a hegemon. Similar stupidity happened when a couple of Central ministers crowed about a cross-border operation(which is supposed to be a secret) in Myanmar.

No sir , I disagree . Since independence Nepal has been fully dependent on India for all their needs . We have been a gracious neighbor and provided them with everything. Common Nepalis doesn't understand a thing about politics and have no knowledge about the economic and political inadequacies of their own nation.
They are not even suppose to exists as an independent nation , yet they are, only because of India.
We were so pacifist that we didn't interfere when maoist were ravaging their country ,when their royal family got massacred. We are still not doing anything ,yet they blame us for their own mess.
Infact it is Nepal who is pushing us , trying to blackmail us by playing the China card.
If they bring in China , it will become an existential threat for us , we cannot let those stupid Nepalis do that to us.
We are not doing anything, but it is definitely time to do something.

1. pacifist?? remember the indian army supply of insas rifles to royal nepal army to counter the maoists?? that would be just one of the involvements.

2. what do you mean by "maoists were ravaging their country"?? the maoists are nepali and seek a different political system.

3. the idea of monarchy is against democracy... the people must rule themselves and not some elite family.

We sold them the rifles , that`s all, we could have send in gunships in there , nobody would have said anything , but we didn`t and kept on looking other way as if nothing was happening over there.
Nepalese revere their king , who of course was pro Indian , but we still didn`t do anything and let anti Indian Maoist to come to power .If we were a hegemonic power we would have done something to stop the maoist.
Nepal was more or less a democratic even before the maoist came in . Maoist revolution was not at all required only if monarch were persuaded to give a little more power to elected representatives like Bhutan did.

This is absolutely nonsense..... and Congress should remember that they were supposed to be a national party who ruled this nation for more than 60 years....... I do not see Pappu and Sonia taking a stand on this idiot.......

You have a ruling coalition who has with them a bunch of vanara sena's who want to split this nation with thier stupid ideology...... and You have a leader opposition party (who ruled this country for 6 decades) with bunch of jokers like aiyar who will play every trick in the book to gain vote shares, even if it embarrasses the nation world wide ....... God knows which way this country is heading.....
