Among Indian cities, Mangalore led the charts, followed by Pune and Hyderabad.

In a welcome achievement, the city of Mangalore in Karnataka has been ranked 48th among a list of global cities on a quality of life index report by Numbeo, ahead of cities like Hamburg, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Madrid, Prague, New York, and Tokyo.

The ranking was based on a number of parameters including purchasing power, safety, cost of living, property price-to-income ratio, traffic commute time, pollution and climate.

Mangalore scored high on purchasing power, health care and safety.

Pune, Maharashtra managed to grab the 102 spot, ranking ahead of New York City (106) and London (129). Pune also fared well on purchasing power, health care and safety indicators.

And the biggest surprise -- Gurgaon, Haryana -- stood at 141 ahead of Hong Kong (145), Kuala Lumpur (173) and even Singapore (155). Gurgaon had purchasing power and health care going for it.

Among Indian cities, Mangalore led the charts, followed by Pune and Hyderabad (116). See the full rankings here.

In city-to-city comparisons, between Delhi and Mumbai, Delhi fared better overall, thanks to purchasing power and climate indicators. Between Chennai and Bangalore, Bangalore stood better attributable to the city's climate and purchasing power.

But you will still be in India. LOL! What is this Indian madness? Can you people not see how crazy you sound when you post crap like this?

None of the Pakistani cities figure in the top 100. In India, my hometown Mangalore figures at 48. The study is done by Numbeo which is the is the world’s largest database of user contributed data about cities and countries worldwide. Numbeo provides current and timely information on world living conditions including cost of living, housing indicators, health care, traffic, crime and pollution.

I've been to Mangalore; loved the city, the food and hospitality!

That is actually quite a good point. However, on this board you will find that most of the Indian posters are Modis nieces and nephews.

Please don't be ridiculous, thanks.

Glad to see our hometown on top of the charts! Have to agree..standard of living has risen sharply around our neck of the woods...& the place has always been pollution free..& that's the one thing which makes me spend most of my time in M'lore when in India. Then again..I hope local council maintains this as the place is becoming more & more cosmopolitan with heavy migrant influx from outside Karnataka & steady industrialisation of the area.

Cant say about mangalore but pune surely is a place worth living in.

especially Magarpatta city and the malls around it ( forgot the names )

:D:D:D

Mangalore is very pretty place and some of the best people I have seen in world. They are well balanced.

Its kind of like Kerala but no crazy communists.

Lived in Magarpatta for over 5 years.
The township is definitely one of the best to live in the world, especially when u consider the consider the cost ad amenities available.

Now a days the front road can get congested, especially with 2 big malls coming up next to Magarpatta. Still, it is world class any parameter.

I have to say I was very impressed by Pune when I was visiting there 5 - 6 years ago. They have done a very good job....I hope more cities around India take cues from whoever the urban planners etc were for Pune.

Vizag has bettered pune in every parameter but couldn't be on the list because the climate index of city for 2017 hasn't been generated yet!!
