Man fined, jailed over second marriage without first wife’s permission

I would suggest you quote, either the Quran or Sahih Hadith, where it explicitly states, "permission of wife number one is required, to marry another woman." OR an example form the Prophet SAWS, or the 1st four rightly guided caliphs.

If you are unable to do so, I would suggest you excuse yourself from this thread, and delete posts which might endanger your akhira. Better be safe, than sorry.

I say this with the deepest respect, and love for you, and hope you will take my suggestion seriously, and without the intervention of your ego.

Best Regards
Well, I told him better to learn about it or leave this topic, spend more time with his family...baby sit his grand children and narrate his childhood stories how he used to play with pharoah, how he guided him to build the pyramids? how he was heart broken when Cleopatra decided to marry the Macedonian..

and in the end I can send him some chicken and parmesan cheese..

Yeah a person should just take the shahadah to become Muslim...

Shahada is simple public declaration by words, you don't become Muslim by simply saying few words in Arabic. Actually you say Shahada after understanding Islam and believing in oneness of Allah from your heart, and always seeking help of Allah and always seeking reference from Quran for guidence.
Next step is to behave like a Muslim and as a minimum discharging your duties towards your society and state, sacrificing for others, sharing with others, in the end only Allah will tell you, how good were you a Muslim.

The Qur'an doesn't say that you may also not tell her.

The law is Islamic as it's logical.

The state has the responsibility to treat men and women equal in Pakistan when it comes to human rights.

Islamic fiqh gives a woman equal rights in a marriage contract of nikkah.

This has nothing to do with ego. Simply a matter of discussion without the extremism. We tend to go overboard now is it by design or by chance is the latest matter of discussion in counter terrorism these days.

permission of wife number one is required, to marry another woman
As far my knowledge is concerned, no where it's stated and neither a limit is set (as we usually apply of 4), and that must be for a good reason... but law of state applies, which is ever adopting to the conditions, as we have witness in Islamic history as well.

He is a very nice guy, on more than one occasion he has bitten the humble pie, with no ego at all. BUT, when people sit on a high horse, and talk in a condescending tone, then the conversation takes a different trajectory.

Insulting him, only forces him to automatically build a wall against you, anything you say will carry zero weight. If he doesn't agree, that's fine, he is decent guy, and 90% of the time, very sensible and thought provoking. YES sometimes he likes to troll, but we all are guilty of that sin.

Nonetheless, I would take a step back, and look at how I have been addressing him.

Quran gives equal rights to every human being, no fiqh etc. is involved.
Marriage indeed is a contract, in modern times we have such contracts computerized!

But these contracts are only legal if the state recognizes them and thusby providing a status of witness.

Without state recognition they are just a piece of paper.

Qur'an guarantees human rights not gender rights. True

You know that NSA dick pics was to put it out there that shizz goes way too deep.

Quran guides us... it doesn't micro manage us.
I don't remember fraction of Quran by heart but its common sense whatever gender its human!

So all the multiple wife beaters can be traced and the tax evasion of the parliamentary candidates who use them for foreign funding and offshore companies.

Hmmm

This is either too big a news or too lame a news then.

Qur'an basically sets a boundary when deducing common sense.

It's God. He speaks to us in our hearts. By his words closer than that as well.

Sunnah provides its ideal presentation.

The rest is circumstance and will of God how good we can be

According to him he doesn't give us anything we can't bear.

Rahmaan and Raheem.

Al Qur'an wal Furqan

Words can't be any clearer.

You seems to know too much... I concur.
Enjoy your evening.

Dude I am a crazy old man with an internet connection lol

The Quran generally encourages a couple to appreciate each other, within that framework, it is advisable that should an unfortunate situation arise, the 1st wife is taken into confidence, since it also THE Humane thing to do.

Something else, other members might be interested in knowing about the Pakistani Marriage contract is that:

1) The husband can delegate his powers of divorce to his wife.

2) The husbands power of divorce CAN BE curtailed, by the wife.

3) The wife can request an X monthly amount, at the time of signing the marriage contract.

4) The man has to declare that he is unmarried at the time of signing the contract, or has written permission of his previous wife / wives.

Please see attachment - English translated copy of a Pakistani Marriage Contract.
