I have noticed, without necessarily being able to prove it, that Russians are also good at learning Arabic. A friend of mine told me that their language is complicated somehow which makes them good at learning languages. It could also have to do with the Soviet Union's legacy and the excellent foreign languages teaching institutions that they established for political and espionage purposes.

How long, and how hard is it for a native Arabic speaker to learn Farsi (without having to set foot in Iran)?

Russian Grammar is much like Farsi Grammar ...

for example, in farsi you can say 20 verbs to make a gramatically correct sentense ... you can do this in russian too ...

another one is short names, in Farsi, we have "Feri" for "Farhad" and "Zari" for "Zahra", in Russian, we have "Dima" for "Dmitry" and "Luda" for "Ljudmilja" ...

Farsi is most Popular foreign Language in Russia ...

it is not hard, becuase you know Alphabet ... and about time ... it depends to yourself ... not only for Farsi, also for all other languages .

you know i have friends in Tajikistan they speak farsi but with some addition of their local language.even most of my grandparents speak farsi but most of the new generation dont speak farsi and speak Urdu. even the official language hear before creation of pakistan and for many years after independence remained farsi..

I would say not so much, of course there are courses and seen universitys that got Iranian specialisation.

دادش قضیه زبان فارسی تو پاکستان اینه که گویا زبان فارسی زبون رسمی بوده ولی بعد انقلاب ژنرال ضیاءالحق می ترسه این آخوندای ما انقلابو به پاکستان صادر کنن به خاطر همین دستور می ده دم دستگاه زبون فارسی رو جمع کنن و اردو رو زبون رسمی می کنه - البته به منبع این ادعا اصلا اطمینان ندارم باید همینجا صحتش رو تصدیق کنیم
