Maldives seeks Pakistan’s help for tax reforms

Maybe Maldives is looking for indirect taxation on its citizens that's why seeking Pakistan assistance in tax reforms :D

. .
Maldives is a friendly country. If they ask us for help in any matter it is an honour for us to help them. We should assist them to the best of our ability. When Pakistan was created in 1947, it was one of the poorest countries of the world. Since then as a nation we have been gradually building our expertise in many fields. We may not be at the level of USA Or Europe but we are ahead of many countries in the world. This should not be a laughing matter.
As for the tax regime in Pakistan is concerned, it was manual when I started my job. Today it is done by e-filing. This year e-filing has become very user friendly and I am certain that in future it will get better. We should have a positive attitude about it.

You must be another one of those who confused NAB with FBR. FBR is no joke and if you ever Filed Taxes you wont be saying that.
I dont know what either is....I am taxed in Europe :(

I fell down laughing on reading the headline.

Hey it is not funny okay, come jumping up and down when you could challenge it with solid points. Till then I will request you to spare this thread from your rush of everything bad happens in Pakistan.

.
Well FBR being full of corrupt harmakhoor or corrupt leadership who is not interested to add more segments in direct taxation has nothing to do with systems it have. eTaxation of FBR is probably one of best in region.

OK that could be good reason for your ignorance in this topic but let me tell you that FBR E-Filling system is the best a Govt. setup can offer in the region. If you want to know then you can learn that from here.

They want FBR like organization and their Network infrastructure like E-Filling system Genius. If you ever had any experience of filling Tax returns or WHT or any knowledge of that then you wont be talking about Indirect Taxes here because their E-Filling system is best any Govt. organization in this region can offer.

Our tax filing system (computerized system) is very efficient and effective, it is one of the best I may say. It is like an ERP integrated system with huge database.
It called Cloud System and it is used by Banks in their MIS(Management Information System) and now a days even Universities are also implementing something of this sort. One best Example is IULMS. Its very effective system a Govt. Agency can Offer in Pakistan.

Our tax laws, personally I think yes these need a hell lot of reform, they are not taxpayer friendly at all, a common layman taxpayer cannot understand and correlate that is mentioned in our laws. I think the theme is from Australian law based.

People who deem themselves to be exempted are abusing their Public offices or their political influence, If FBR could be autonomous and work independently the results would be lot better, but somehow I feel FBR's role is same as that of Police when it comes to our GOP.

there's nothing that high tech in this....most countries have similar or better systems...I have seen these new e-filing systems that government organizations are now introducing including tax filing and secp e-services....they have their bugs and compatibility issues. And no option for paying through credit card etc. And the service is slow as well.

Maldives just needs to get in touch with any good software/IT company and they'll do it for them...it's not that difficult.

Name the bugs?

List down the compatibility issues?

And demand something from a system that will cater the needs of masses not just some 1% credit card using folks.

This is Pakistan we are talking about and FBR is Govt. agency so for that standard it still fulfills all the Requirement of E-Filling for an AOP(Association of Person), Salaried Person and Company each. Like everyone else mentioned their are lope holes in it as well but still it is proved to be effective in Filling and I have never seen it down that is another thing that could be expected from Govt. Organization.

there used to be browser compatibility issues with secp e-services...and there isn't enough guidance on the website. It's still not a completely online system.

The majority doesn't have internet either, or if they do, no electricity. So they didn't even need an online system, the 99% can't really make any use of it.
