You might be right from your POV, But what can a puny Maldive do against a threat next door ? Who would provide them support for materials and everything even defense if they openly condemn India ?

Condemn to UAE ne bhi nai kia, So should we call each of our Expat back to Pak and reject any gifts that we receive from them from now on ? As usual, “Interests” matters in the end. This is an era of wolves, Long gone are the days when lions ruled.

The problem there was that when an anti-India leader finally came in power, we were asleep at the wheel. China still capitalized a little bit by building an oceanic research facility, etc. The West quickly woke up, used India's massive influence there (and former coup-engineering expertise which we lacked --- again, our fault) to run a massive info warfare campaign against the (now ex) leader. He finally lost through a controversial election and the West + India planted an exiled leader back in power.

We tried to do something about it --- but, as always, too little too late. These cultural/societal changes take time and we haven't focused on this country enough.
