No products contaminated with pork DNA, municipality confirms

The civic body on Wednesday confirmed that Cadbury chocolates sold in Dubai are not contaminated with pork DNA, a municipal official said.

“As soon as the news broke out that two Cadbury products in Malaysia contained pork derivatives, we formed a team from the Food Control Department to follow up on all registered foreign and local imports. Based on the investigation, we can confirm that Dubai did not receive any of the affected products,” said Khalid Mohammad Sharif, Director of the Food Control Department at Dubai Municipality.

The confirmation followed news from Malaysia on Monday that two products, Cadbury Dairy Milk Hazelnut and Cadbury Dairy Milk Roast Almond, had tested positive for trace amounts of pork derivatives.

“The same incident happened last year [during the horse meat contamination of food products] and Dubai Municipality immediately conducted a similar investigation of food samples from the markets. The results from the laboratory tests showed that the products in question were free from pork [and horse] DNA,” explained Sharif.

He pointed out that the Food Control Department is always updated on the latest contamination of food products around the world, and that they follow up on such incidents by taking precautionary measures and carrying out laboratory tests on products that are available in the market.

“A sample of all incoming food products from ports are tested to ensure they are free from pork derivatives and safe for consumption,” he said.

Dubai Municipality follows international food safety codes that are based on scientific and international institutions, such as the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), the Gulf Standard Organisation and the Codex Alimentarius Commission, which are a collection of internationally recognised standards, codes of practice, guidelines and other recommendations relating to foods, food production and food safety.

The municipality also carries out routine tests on food products in the market to test whether they contain contaminated substances, in addition to checking whether the amount of additives permitted are in accordance with the approved specifications.

No other religions is a targeted as Islam is. Read the tickers on international news sites with words 'Islam' and its different forms, read articles about Islam in dfferent magazines. There is a particular stereotype bulit around this word and the religion is targeted and given unnecessary attention and focus.

Small correction.. its not british, its an US company... ya bloddy yankees .. :pissed:

Wrong. Cadbury's is British:

Cadbury is a British multinational confectionery company owned by Mondelēz International. It is the second largest confectionery brand in the world after Wrigley's.[2] Cadbury is headquartered in Uxbridge, London, and operates in more than fifty countries worldwide.

Erm NO it's not.

Cadbury is now owned by that horrid company Kraft (US firm) and the quality of the chocolate has gone downhill. They sacked workers here in the UK and the company has been experiencing falling sales ever since.

This once great firm had a fascinating history set up by the Quakers and the work they did for the community. Now it's a hollow shell.

Erm, NO, you are still wrong. Kraft underwent a demerger in 2012, with Cadbury ending up with Mondelez International, like I said before:

Nervous Cadbury settles in with a new owner as Kraft splits itself in two | Business | The Observer

"Cadbury was swallowed up by Kraft in 2010 after one of the hardest-fought takeovers in recent memory – but with the ink barely dry on the new stationery, it was all change again last month as the US group went ahead with a surprise demerger that saw more than 100 of its snack brands, including Cadbury, Milka, Toblerone and Oreo, spun off under the newly created banner of Mondelez International."

Kraft does not own Cadbury.

Well , Thanks God I use locally made Chocolates .

On the side note who is gonna bet right now Al-Qaeda is searching all the maps to find where the country of Cadbury is situated so they can start a Jihad there .

You said it was British ,NO it's not and your own link proves it. I may have got the the thing about it being wholly owned by the US Kraft wrong, but now its part of mondelezinternational which is American. The de-merger stuff is rebranding and delegating.

The firm is still is American, but a global firm with a substantial European portfolio.
