Malaysian group to build state-of-the-art amusement park in Lahore

Malaysian investor is stupid, he should hire you as a consultant.
Firstly it's not just about this particular investment, its about the focus on Lahore only under the guise of Punjab development.
Secondly we don't know to which extent the provincial/federal government's input in the selection of this location is involved. So the concerns are justified considering we have history as a proof.
Thirdly there is no restriction in discussing the points i have raised, if you and the rest of the noora squad is feeling the burn(which is quite obvious on this thread :cheesy:) by my comments then i cant help it. You can curse PTIans as much as you like as i am not affiliated with any political party. It is my right to criticize the government for the policies i don't deem appropriate and i shall make proper use of that right.

amusement park? Thats the last thing we need right now.Invest this money somewhere else. I dnt need to point as where...

So let me understand your effing common sense. The ENTIRE GLOBE wants investments and welcomes whatever industry someone invests into, as that creates local jobs and helps the economy.

A company who specializes in Theme parks, wants to build one. So Pakistan should say NO to that???? Its an INVESTMENT!!!!!! Or, worst yet, Pakistan should tell them to change their business model (they've been doing it for decades) and for Pakistan, they should learn how to build hospitals or schools or roads as Pakistan needs those more?

Common, God gave you a brain, and he expects you to use .001% of it. Its like me saying, I make Jeans, here, I'll give you 5 as an investment, and instead, you saying, NO, I am poor as hell, but I don't want to wear your free jeans. How about you start making Tables and give me 5 of those when you learn to do it. You posts are one of the BIGGEST reason why Pakistan was where it was, so backwards and anti-national thinking :hitwall:

how about denying Audi and VW to start production in Pakistan, keh do hamarey ghareboon ko roti ne milti aur tum car bana rehey ho, roti ka plant lagao.

I hit wall on the genius of PTI supporters

And i support APML musharaff to tuka na mara kar

It's just a name I think, when they will ultimately make it, it would look like 'ordinary' children's park

My assumption only

Sorry, I didn't see your "admission"....I just responded to the first post but then went to a meeting, came back and realized I hadn't "submitted" my post. So I did that. Your "admission" had come in between that time and I didn't read the thread as to where it was...

Lets see Lahore has

1) A large population (over 15 million if you count the surrounding districts)
2) World class infrastructure
3) A highly educated and technically qualified workforce
4) High levels of connectivity
5) Very high level of female education and participation in the economy
6) Rapidly expanding middle class
If I am a foreigner, why would I invest elsewhere in the country? Why should I go to the tribal areas or Peshawar or Mastung or say Naudero? Will I find that there? And when you say the "Government should give incentives" how in hell are they supposed to do that? They do what they can, tax breaks, subsidies, infrastructure. But they cannot create what I wrote above, they can't wave a magic wand and say "Larkana is now like Lahore". It does not work that way.

This kind of stuff is welcome but government should pay attention to other needs of people:

1. Improve existing hospitals
2. Create new hospitals
3. Create new jobs
4. Create new industry
5. Introduce housing schemes for the Middle-Class.

As long as it is INVESTMENT on there part, it is all good. I hope we are not financing the project. If Pakistani money is being used here then i would call it a waste given our current situation but if the foreign company is here to INVEST and make a park as there business investment then it is all good as it will bring in investment bring some jobs/work along with offering modern recreational activity.

Can you please provide the source for the population data you mentioned. Islamabad isn't there alone, it has a twin city(Which is very much under the jurisdiction of the Punjab government).
Now the closest biggest city to Lahore according to me is Gujranwala(I could be wrong though) which is 73 kms away. Now have a look at the cities which are closer to Islamabad. Rawalpindi (no need to mention the distance :D), Wah Cantt(45kms), Taxila(39kms), Muree(49 kms), Kahuta (47Kms). Now Haripur, Abottabad GujarKhan, Attock, Kamra, Havelian each of these are within 65 Kms of Islamabad.
I mention this because i know people from these locations primarily from the ones which are within 50km range, who travel to Islamabad and Rawalpindi on daily basis for jobs, education, business and other activities.
Now from another perspective. Pakistan's tourism lie in the Northern areas and anyone who comes from even Sindh and Baluchistan go via Islamabad. Couple that with foreigners living in Islamabad: Embassies, foreign missions, NGO's etc etc. Business opportunities in Islamabad are not as bad as some people think and also Lahore is no New York, it gets these opportunities because there are national/provincial governments vested interests.

Lets take Demographia and official government statistics from 1998 cencus as our sources:

http://www.demographia.com/db-worldua.pdf
http://pbscensus.gov.pk/content/district-glance-census-1998

___________________________________________________________________

Lahore =10.3 million (Demographia)

Districts that border Lahore:
Sheikhupura = 3.3 million (http://www.pbs.gov.pk/sites/default/files//tables/District at a glance Sheikhupura.pdf)
Kasur = 2.3 million (http://www.pbs.gov.pk/sites/default/files//tables/District at a glance Kasur.pdf)

If you add Gujranwala and Faisalabad (which are about 2 hrs drive i.e. close enough for a day trip to Lahore), then thats another 2.1 and 3.6 million respectively. (Demographia)

Overall you are looking at somewhere in a range of 18 to 24 million people.

______________________________________________________

Islamabad-Rawalpindi = 2.5 million (Demographia)

Districts that border Isl-Rwp

Attock = 1.2 million (http://www.pbs.gov.pk/sites/default/files//tables/District at a glance Attock.pdf)

The KPK census district links arent working (http://pbscensus.gov.pk/content/khyber-pakhtunkhwa) but as per Wikipedia both Abbotabad and Haripur have a population of over or under a million. So if we add a million each for these two thats 2 million (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haripur_District, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abbottabad_District)

Places like Muree, Kahuta, Gujar Khan have populations of a little over or under 100 000. If you really want to push it I will add another 2 million for these places combined (including Taxila and all the others you mentioned)

Overal you are looking at something in the range of 4 to 9 million people in the wider Islamabad-Rawalpindi region.
