What's new

Malaysia has banned Padmaavat , citing its negative portrayal of a Muslim ruler.

Cant blame em. As an avid history fan, watching Alaudin dance to a trashy song made me facepalm and question the intellect of viewers who will find this movie interesting.

At least wife of Muslim no need to go satee (or they did???). :(
No, never. Muslim women remarry if husband die.In Islam, marriage, divorce, remarriage, widow marriage is very easy.If you read the medieval history of social customs in the middle east or Indian sub continent, you will find that large percentage of the muslim women had more than one marriage. There was a women in my grand mom's village, who serially married 9 times! heard that from my grand mom. This type of marriage, divorce, remarriage, widow marriage was very normal and common. It is also true for present times.

More like a negative portrayal of Rajput, who rather burned their wives, instead of allowing them to remarry.
The movie shows that the women ran into an inferno of fire in their own will.

This practice was called Jauhar and even unmarried girls took part in it , basically to save their honor and avoid turning into a sex slave after being captured as war booty by Muslim invaders in medieval era .

even today women prefer death over life of a sex slave .
