even though Sonnia Gandhi won elections they never let her become a PM so instead of suggesting us you might wanna suggest your indian population

Sonia Gandhi chose not to become the PM because of her foreign origins. In a country that was colonised, it was probably a smart move on her part to avoid any controversy. No one for a second has suggested that she didn't become PM because she's a woman. First time I hear such nonsense.

.
we had Indra Gandhi as pm......our president is a lady...Mrs.Pratibha Patil....leader of opposition is lady..Smt. Sushma Swaraj....largest state by population..UP is governed by Miss.Mayawati.

update urself and then come here:tdown::tup::tdown::tup:

So?did they have AIDS?coz he was talking abt AIDS and other diseases found in non muslim countries.?
Wat do u know abt islam?Nothin...and yet ur giving ur moronic views on our religion>?just for bashing and attacking our faith?
How would u like us to talk abt real issues tht we understand about ur religion waith facts?
Dont ruin the thread.Keep out of things u cant comprehend.

Hi Raleigh22 & Indiarocks
lame excuses is what you can present now, but lets just say its not about her, so much for some stupid allegations that Pakistani's don't adopt modest approach towards women, Women in Pakisan still enjoy more freedom than any other arab state, the whole world remembers the video of a girl spanked by taliban but don't even know how American & indian police treat women

we dont have to discuss them its all about Mullahs :azn:

As for women in Pakistan, we are the only Muslim country to have a female leader, only Muslim nation with female army majors, pilots and females in other such positions.

Female representation within our government is higher than others in our region and the Muslim world. We have done pretty well as far as women go however we need some more work.

Wrong! You are talking about First female Muslim Prime Minister only

There has been couple of female Muslim rulers in the past such as Razia Sultan of Delhi.

Wrong! let me tell you few female Muslim leaders from other parts of the World.

1) Megawati Sukarnoputri was the President of Indonesia

2) Tansu Ciller was the Prime Minister of Turkey

3) Shaykh Hasina Wazed and Khalida Zia were/are two respective female Prime Ministers of Bangladesh.

Yes there are large number of female political leaders in Pakistan but that is not only the case in Pakistan. Look around in other Muslim countries they too have many Muslim female leaders nowadays and i am glad to see that :)

do you change your father after every few years saying Papa time has changed an so has the society.... so you are not my father anymore? (with all due respect)

I have really no idea what the heck that meant but I will try to answer accordingly to what I understood.

My family moved to the United States 16 years ago. My dad changed himself and so did my mom. My dad stopped wearing Shalwar Kameez and started wearing a shirt and jeans. My mom started working and also changed what she wore.

My mom is now almost 38 years old and she wears what any other 38 year old American woman would wear to work.

That is what I mean when society changes. The world and work space around you can change drastically. Especially in Pakistan where the women work force is surging.

Now if we want Pakistan to be a country where freedom of choice is for anyone who seeks it, then we must change the way we look at religion. If someone chooses to follow religion, then that is their choice and if someone chooses not to, that's not your problem.

No it does not work like that........ Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is our Ideal and his teachings are there forever. You don't change your Prophet or stop following his teachings by saying Time changed / Prophet Changed and so has the teachings

It DOES work like that. His teachings are always there and free for anyone who seeks them.

But if someone chooses not to, again, it's NOT the governments/Mullahs/Moral Polices problem. You or I can't do anything about it.

I made a mistake in writing only when I should have written first, benazir was the first prime minister of a Muslim country in the modern time.

But we still are the only Muslim nation with female military majors, also have good representation of women but we still need alot more work.

No one wears a burqa in the the areas of Karachi where I live, you only see women wearing burqa in the poorer districts of cities. Rural ones wear their own traditional clothes, burqa is a lot more common towards pakhtunwa.

But they are all modestly covered, meaning they all observe pardah which is covering your body correctly and that differs from place to place. Some count coveing head as pardah but girls of my generation do not.

I really think that Indians in general do not know anything about lifestyle in Pakistan, perhaps you should visit and then decide.

.
Ok for the love of god, there are barely any people who wear burka in Pakistan.

but... i saw a movie the other day. Ishqiya or something and she wore a burka.

what the heck was that all about?

Freekin and T faraz try rural sindh, rural punjab, balouchistan and rural NWFP.

Loser, my fathers family is from sindh and am khan from my mothers side and have spent considerable time in rural sindh for business and personal reason. The women over there wear traditional clothing, not burqa.

And when did I say it is something to feel ashamed of, I am just stating the fact that you can for some reason are unable to digest.

Many women would refuse to wear a burqa in Karachi and many other places and that is a fact. I see more women in a burqa in London than Karachi.

Relax, this is not some earth shattering or utterly important article that we are discussing.

Just let it pass and concentrate on our real issues.
