Things were difference those days, English was the language used by British, so the Sinhalese groups tried to change it. Now Sinhala and Tamil are the official languages, but I think it's fine if government make English as official language coz all government documents come in Sinhala/Tamil/English languages.
then why are the tamil names for places in the north being renamed into sinhala names.....? omanthai became omantha...mullivaikal (where the sinhala forces conducted one of the most gruesome war crimes by killing 49 patients by shelling a hospital) , Kokkachchaankulam and a host of other tamil towns' names are also on the process of being sinhalaised.....

sorry bro...its not the past unless all warcrimes are accounted for and the criminals brought to justice....you just cant do these crimes and get away.....
