Majority in Pak don't support terrorists: Khan

Actually, it did! Pakistan started sponsoring militants in Afghanistan back in the 70s then convinced the U.S. into supporting them, too.

Let's see if any of you can guess or cite my reference (Pakistani, of course!) for these facts.
they were not terrorists they were people who fought to defend their land to get rid of foreign forces and above all they were our Muslim Brothers thats why it was farz on us to fight along with them and help them

Surprisingly TTP also gives a similar argument before it blows up you guys ie It is defending Pakistan from America and American stooges in your govt and to convert Pakistan into true Islamic state..with Sharia law and all.

No one is asking you anything.

An eminent ex Foreign Secretary of Pakistan is doing the talking!

Nawabzada Shahryar Mohammad Khan (born 29 March 1934) is a former career Pakistan diplomat who rose to the position of Foreign Secretary of Pakistan in 1990, and remained so till his retirement from service in 1994; he was later appointed as UN SRSG to Rwanda (1994-1996).

Nawabzada Shahryar Muhammed Khan is descended from the Orakzai tribe of Tirah.

He is the only son and male heir of both Nawab Muhammad Sarwar Ali Khan, the ruler of former princely state of Kurwai and princess Abida Sultan (Suraya Jah, and Nawab Gauhar-i-Taj) Begum Sahiba, herself the Crown Princess and the eldest daughter of last ruling Nawab of Bhopal, Haji-Hafiz Sir Muhammad Nawab Hamidullah Khan, who reigned state of Bhopal after a prolonged era of Begums regime.

I am sure his credentials are impeccable!

He feels that the majority of Pakistanis do not support terror.

Is he wrong?

Are you suggesting that the majority do?

I don't think so.

No he is not suggesting so. Why would any body in Pakistan support terrorists when they themselves are directly or indirectly affected from terrorism.

You indians keep running your mouth about Sharia. Can you tell me what Sharia is in true Islamic terms, not in the talibani terms. Please elaborate. And while you are at it, also please give me a name of a single Islamic country that has Sharia applied to the last nail. Please. THanks.

Sir ji indian hain in ka kasoor nahi, they just cant see beyond their hate of Pakistan.

.
This is what I expected to read.

Why majority ? No one should support terrorists .

Personally,I feel its not the people of Pak who support terrorists, its the GOP ( Pindi) which uses them as an arm of state policy while the people & nation faces its consequences.

Exactly, NO ONE should support terrorists. and it implies on all be it Pakistani people, indian people, PA, IA, ISI, RAW, CIA, MOSAD.

and I respect your personal feelings. There is no bar on personal feelings.

No country as of now has implemented sharia law completely only in bit and pieces but Afghanistan under Taliban regime came pretty close to it..off course it was based upon their interpretation of Quran and Sunnah.

.
I disagree.

One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.

Pakistan will continue to support Kashmiris, whom Indians call terrorists, as long as it fits into Pakistan's interest for the long term situation in the region.

Sharia cant be implemented on how a certain group thinks or interprets the Quran or the Sayings of the Prophet PBUH. So no the Taliban never came close to implementing anything close to what you believe they did.

That was not sharia law at all, In islam there are around 72 or 73 schools of thought which are entirely different on minor issues. Being an outsider you might get an impression that they were for shariah law, however, they were not for shariah law rather they were forcing their own thoughts on others.

Being a Muslim you should know that Quran being a book is open to individual interpretation and has been interpreted by different schools of thought differently... infact same verses from Quran have been used justify diametrically opposite actions at different points of time.

Offcourse it was Taliban who firmly believed that it was Sharia ,that it was implementing and were ready to kill/die for it.

See this is where the problem lies, that rather then listening to the followers of the religion you are lecturing us with zero knowledge but to satisfy your own ego. The talibans were wrong, and no the Ayahs of the Quran cant be interpreted in many different ways. People do that to twist the meaning and to satisfy their own agenda, but that is not right. And nor were the talibs. What you say and what they said and believed held zero credibility.

.
Instead of getting stuck in who did what, when -- lets look at who is doing what about the problem, NOW! Are a majority of Pakistanis of the view that Pakistan have a program or a strategy to deal with terrorism?? If there is such a strategy, Do a majority support this strategy?? What do the continuing attacks by the Talib and or religious extremists suggest about the strategy that Pakistan employ against these Islamists terrorists and what evidence can be presented that a majority support this strategy?

Friends, these questions, I don't think any Pakistan member can answer, because, lets face it, we don't have any real response that will stop the oxygen that these terrorists life off - that oxygen is of course the lies that is our existence - we need to forgive ourselves and move past this by looking at the problem squarely - that is to say, in the mirror -- We can't be against terror and also oppose equality of all before the law, we can't be against religious extremism and continue to quietly support the excommunication of the Ahamadi through the constitution, we can't continue to pretend that we are at peace with ourselves, even as we persecute minority sects of Islams, Christians, Hindus and women.

Well I might not be follower of the religion but I am a follower of its history..whether right or wrong ..people do it and they firmly believe, that what they believe is the right thing!!

Besides my argument is not..what Taliban implemented was Sharia or not but, they did implement a set of laws if Afghanistan, then Swat ..they called it Sharia and now they wan't to implement similar laws in Pakistan.
