Major gas discovery in Marri-Bugti area

I hope ethnic Baluch and Bugti people benefits from their gas and it brings prosperity & development in Baluchistan.

.
we have lot fo natural resources
but 2 problems are biggest hurdle in it
1st foreign companies are sharing accurate results
2nd our leaders donot want

A major discovery would be the one with proven gas reserves of 10 TCF or more. Thus far only the gas field discovered at Sui way back in 1952 can be called major discovery. (Only about 3 TCF is now left at Sui). All other large fileds have in the region of 4 TCF proven reserves; these are commercially exploitable but not really ‘Major’.

Would you believe that Uch gas field located next to Zin block in the Dera Bugti area was first discovered in 1955? The gas has a high percentage of Carbon Dioxide therefore a low BTU value. It has been 57 years but so far I have not come across a definite figure of ‘Proven reserves’ at Uch. ‘Potential reserves’ is only a speculation until it is ‘proven’ after drilling of many wells. BLA keep blowing up equipment at Uch and I am afraid that Zin field may end up the same way.

Any new commercial gas or oil find is good news but let us not go on a ‘Jumping with joy’ spree on mere speculation. Additionally, it takes at least 3 years after discovery before production from the field can be fully exploited. Assuming that this find is another Sui and a solution to our gas shortage; what do we do for the 3 years in between?

Finally, exploratory drilling is an expensive and risky business. It is possible to drill large number of wells and still end up with nothing. Pakistan does not have the resources to meet her annual budget and one should be thankful to International companies who are willing to spend their dollar with the hope of striking it rich. We need more foreign investment not less. Your remark is therefore is emotionally motivated and not based on ground realities.

two major companies ogdcl and PPL that accounts for nearly all production are govt owned!!!!!!!!!!

They have benefited enough from what they do in Karachi
No, this will be for all Pakistanis to benefit

.
sui is getting free gas..if thats a benefit

people whoa ctually sacrificed their lands and houses are getting nothing not even compensation like brotha and tarbela project which has served far more than sui has served Pakistan but they havnt been involved in blowing innocent people

Indeed, they should be....a fair rate of royalty is indeed what should be given. However, the dilemma is that since the land is in the name of tribe, thus it is usually paid to the tribal chief with faith that it will be spent upon the welfare of people of that tribe. This is what has been lagging since then. One of my friend was telling me that his cousin works in a foreign company engaged in exploration. As per his cousin, around 40% of the company revenues were paid as bribe to different parties including tribal chiefs and guess what company was still profitable. So yes a fair and just rate of royalty should be paid which is their right. Yet the right of use is for whole Pakistanis who are willing to pay the price of natural resource. I hope this clear these doubts, if your intention was other than that of trolling (Which i dont think by witnessing the "banned" status.)

AFAIK, the dispute is on the royalty. Maripur gasfields are owned by FFoundation and are paying the lowest royalty rate to tribe. Thats why the tensions increased.

Baluch seperatists / nationalists / idiots will never let anything good to happen in Baluchistan....No use in exploring anything there

Solar Power is not expensive

800 Watts is 40-70% of home energy needs (2 PANNEL 1 BATTERY 1 INVERTER SYSTEM)
2000 Watts is 95% of needs (4-5 pannel 2 battery 1 inverter)

Market sells 350 watts pannel ....(Good ones people don't look at capacity) that means you need 2 pannels
1 Pannel cost is 800 USD

Two Pannel : 1600 USD
Battery : 300 USD
Inverter : 300
Wire : 100

May be 2500 USD , 1 time cost , and you get electricty for 20-25 years

You can light up Bulbs (tube lights even better)
You can run electric fans
You can run Monitor or TV 3-4 hours
You can store electricity worth 8 hours -9 hours

With Petrol :
You spend 100 USD / week , you do math , 52 weeks in years 5,200 USD / year

Plus you pay WAPDA , 40 USD / month electric bill even if you get no electricity

Now if you are dealing with SHADY DEALER

Who sells you 80 watt (capacity) for 1000 USD this guy is of course a crook
Currently market price is 350 watts for 800 dollars !!!

Motor cycle cost is 1000 usd -2000 usd ... so solar panel same price range

PAKISTANIS NEED TOO TREAT ENERGY JUST LIKE TV / INTERNET OR MOTOR CYCLE PURCHASE

Pakistani homes are constructed , so that you can install 20 Sollar pannels not juts 2 , now you can imagine !!!! the Potential as a Nation

IF WE ALL AGREE WE ARE GETTING A SOLAR PANNEL FOR OUR HOME , IF WE WANT TO GIVE A GIFT TO OUR FAMILY IN PAKISTAN GIVE THEM 2500 USD and invest in solar technology this EID

YOU PEOPLE DECIDE

while the people suffering from projects like dams losing their property are getting no royality at all...that was the point i was mentioning
even the world bank have linked their loan to further dams for paying royality to local people
the people of sui are atleast getting something!!

i have personally tested solar energy for agriculture purposes and its dispointingly expenisve..unless u use it on the grid (with electric connection means on the grid) that way it can decrease the billing.

the main issue is the electric pannels(cost is way too much as u mentioned nearly 800 dollars mean 60 thousand..so in order to run a good size family u will require atleast 3 lac ruppes in pannel investment and 40 thousand in batteries that dont last for 2 years

now u do the maths

one last thing panels efficiency fall by 5%each year!!

so solar is only possible to coup the day/night differences, however having said that its rapidly getting cheaper.

more feasible option are hydral projects

government buys the land from these people at many times higher than the normal rate in that area...afyer that it becomes government property.....if the government digs oil or makes a sewage treatment plant .. thats not the previous owners concern..

But these super greedy people not only want money for their lands but also asks government to keep paying them for eternity...
greed has no cure ans same is Baluch proplem...incurable due to greed.

2-3 Lakh for Middle class families in Pakistan is nothing -

As stated , the production of electricty depends on Capacity of the pannel , and company which made the pannels

Rest is free production of Electricity that is stored in Batteries

PAKISTANIS NEED TO DECIDE

SOLAR CONVERSION IS A PERSONAL/ HOUSE HOLD CHOICE ...

If you invest in 2-3 Pannels (Capacity 350 watts from Sharp) , you get enough electcity that you would be pretty happy

> Don't buy a BMW
> Don't buy another Mazda or Mercedez
> Spend less in Wedding

Invest as Family in Solar power

If this COUNTRY WIDE Trend starts ... Load on National Grid will reduce by 70%

If Pakistanis can build a Villa worth 200,000 USD in Pakistan I am sure they can afford to spend
3,000 USD on Solar power 350 watts x 2 systems and stop crying over crisis in energy

Plus Banks can giver Loans for Solar Conversion , and instea do paying for the WAPDA electricity bill just pay that Bank Loan Payment

.
The government estimates gas consumption by the power sector at around 29%, industry at 26%, domestic users at 19%, fertilizers 15%, and transport 10%.

so if we can build dams and shift to hydral production we can us e this a dditional 29% for other important purposes..
its time we shift to coal and hydral..both cheap and huge potential..
only a few countries use gas as much as we do for electricity production
