Major defence budget increase!

On a demand by all three security forces as well as the Ministry of Defence, the federal government has decided to increase defence spending for financial year 2016-17 by over 1 billion dollars (American).

The budget teams of General Headquarters and the Joint Staff Headquarters have already completed negotiations with Finance Minister Ishaq Dar regarding defence needs of the armed forces during the next financial year. Dar has reportedly assured the military leadership that all financial requirements of the security services will be taken care of. The government has also agreed to some suggestions by Ministry of Defence and the Joint Staff Headquarters with regard to taxes and duties on export and import of defence equipment. The defence budget of current financial year is almost 8 billion dollars (American) and is likely to become over 9 billion dollars (American).

The proposal of induction of 17,600 men in the armed forces was also considered during the meetings. The armed forces also wanted the establishment of a pay and pension commission for their personnel. Sources said that the Pakistani Navy wants its budget raised (splendid news in my opinion). It has asked for almost 1 billion dollars (American) for the next financial year as it wants to boost the number of submarines.

Navy. Our military leadership has completely allowed the regression of an important military sector that always ensures your survival, your ability to counter and projects your power. One of the main reason we lost the 1971 war was our weak navy.

We must make sure our naval strength is strong and capable to hold Its own and that means we need frigates, submarines and a naval air arm.

Then comes our air force. The keyboard generals want us to blow up an american drone and take america on yet our air force comprises heavily of US planes ( and believe me you won't seeing f16 vs f16) and those that are not are either too little in numbers and too less advanced to make a difference. Our air force even compared to the air power of our enemy India is not sufficient and at a disadvantage. We need greater fleets of self made planes aka jf17 and we need fifth generation fighters to add the punch.

Navy should be given priority.. It seriously need a surface fleet .. Older frigates have to be phased out .. The best ships right now are probably the F-22Ps .. Time to get something like the type54 series ... & improved F-22Ps.

No doubt the navy, apart from submarines, a decent surface fleet is necessary our submarines will get us so far.
Navy should procure existing platforms like the F-22Ps, and pay money for re-fitted OHPs, this would allow numerical increase in the surface fleet, whilst reducing chances of financial burden and cost over-runs in developing infrastructure and logistics for an entirely new platform.

Army needs Tanks, Gunships and new battle rifle.

2. 4.5 gen heavy fighters (JH7 and Su-35) for PAF and PN
3. Modern border control on Pak-Afghan border
4. More helicopters

The army is already addressing all those points you mention, and so is the Air Force (but at a much slower rate). The navy, eh, kinda.

To be fair, submarines are the most powerful asset of a navy.

They are, not to mention, very expensive to counter.
But they'll only get you so far, I'd be happy to see some 12 F-22Ps in the Navy, this is something possible. Over a span of 5 years a reasonably sized surface fleet can be built, if Navy gets 1 billion USD per annum.

This is a typical annual increase; it happens to all countries.

In my opinions however, the Navy should only be capable of (with support from air and land) defending our coastal waters until the 'possible' conflict comes to an end.

We should prioritize our Air-defense, Armored Corps and the Air Force; anything that can be regarded as force multipliers to match India's massive conventional quantity.

PAF should have three or four types air crafts, such as
F16 Block 52.
SU 35.
JF 17.
JH 7
Euro fighters or Mirage 2000-9 at least 3 sqs. or according to need.
