Major breakthrough on naval reactor + propulsion system

If you happened to live in Karachi between 2009 and 2014 and were/are a fishing buff.. then when crossing the breakwaters near manora base one frequently encounters submarine activity and one can see subs docked around the various Sub pens and piers at the base. Now untrained eyes would see a submarine, slightly more interested eyes would see the Agosta(whether its 70 or 90B they cant tell for sure).. However, much more astute watchers would have noticed that apart from the 1-2 Agosta 70s, 1-2 90B.. and a hulk of a Daphne(later removed) there lay a fifth submarine much longer than the others with a fatter hull and a more teardrop shape. This sub was either a routine visitor, or there for a much longer while.

Kid, Pakistan's procurement works way different to India's....and i think they still didn't learn form the ill fated LCA project......we get what we want and when we want it according to our needs. No need for comparison with a useless procurement policy in India.

As i've said before, Pakistan's procurement and construction happens at a very rapid pace compared to India. But of course, why would you know that?
Pakistan and India are VERY different nations, you can't compare apples with oranges so don't even bother.

Indian keep falling into the trap of reinventing the wheel and that is why they keep failing despite more resources. The news about 8 submarines from China and this rumour about reactor is not a coincidence. The hull or the kit for the hull for the Pakistani nuke sub will be of Chinese origin, which will be mated to Pakistani reactor and missiles. There is no international treaty that prohibits that. In fact France and Brazil has similar arrangements. Further, after some delays, the Ship Lift and Transfer System at Karachi Shipyard, which itself is nearly a million dollar project is underway, which will allow for much quicker construction of ships and subs. At least two of the subs will not come with AIP engine and will be fitted with Pakistani reactors which will give a timeline of operationalizing a fully loaded Nuke sub of 3 to 5 years. Not the 25 year Indians took to get their Arirhant.

And this is all speculation, the hull is yet to see the light of day let alone enter the arduous testing regime one can expect for such a vessel so everyone needs to stop patting themselves on the back and give it a few more years.

I meant a Billion dollars for SLTS system at KSEW and not a million

So which project resulted in long term progress for India, Marut or LCA or Arjun? Today India has to even import its basic trainer. Nobody is patting, everything on this forum is or was speculation like the Barak or Shaheen III or Z 10 or LY90 or HQ 9 etc.

What about the ALH? The LCA is about ready now and will bring huge dividends for India in the long term as will the Arjun (that will be the foundations for the FMBT).

Today India has to even import its basic trainer.

This is about poor planning and nothing more, India has the capability to do it obviously.

Ok for the size of your country and economy you have few successes like the space program but ALH and LCA are not good examples of success. The ALH safety and performance record is obvious to every one and the project survived due to help from others and LCA story is known.

You are entitled to your opinion, just watch how these "failures" benefits India in the long term.

Making an aircraft after sanctions from the west due to nuclear project is not a piece of cake. Technologies like, crystal blades, the compressor, ability to ignition at high altitude, thrust to weight ratio , up-gradation capability are something which many countries still manage to just do good even after spending Billions for one engine development, under R&D. IT is always the learning process.

The GEf110, up gradation program SLEP alone costs $560 Millions and took 6 years to complete. Where as Kaveri Engine's total development program was $640 Millions. Vast difference in utilising resources.

Yes you are right, we cannot compare Pakistan with India....after all no comparison b/w Apple and a Bitter gourd....respectively.
