Major Announcement expected on Troop withdrawal from Iraq and Afghanistan

I agree Trump just talk big and make us all laugh. Practically he caused the least damage than other US presidents.

Agreed he has a talent for being a loud mouth and a comedian but people should judge the guy by his actions:

- Best US economy in history pre-covid
-Quickest economic recovery out of all developed countries (Exception of China)
-0 Wars started
-Ending US wars in iraq/afghanistan (or atleast attempting to)
- Criminal justice reform (reduced largest prison population in the world)
- Tax reform (made the US most attractive business destination)
- Realigning US foreign policy so that rich nations such as germany, japan, korea stop taking advantage of the US.

That in itself is more than Bush/Obama/Clinton ever did.

According to the information available in public domain on agreement between Taliban and US about US troop withdrawl from Afghanistan, the deadline is set to May 2021 from all bases in Afganistan. The US troops have started evacuating Shindand air base and next potential base in line is the Nangarhar base. Proper base evaculation requires transferring of important assets to other locations and unimportant assets are made useless; which requires time. It remains to be seen how the evacuation proceeds after US elections

Trump is looking for an Intra-Afghan deal before the election; 53 days away.

US has not backed away from its the desire to have a foothold in Afghanistan (just like Iraq) & is trying to achive it by acting as a mediator in Intra-Afghan deal and getting its desire fulfilled by getting US foothold approved by new afghan government. Afterwards, Trump will not only be able to announce in front of US public that he has fulfilled his promise of ending war in Afghanistan BUT also be able to declare that US has been successful in establishing "Democracy" in Afghanistan (on the same pattern when US evacuated Iraq with US foothold presence approved by new Iraqi govt).

In my opinion, as far as Taliban are concerned, they are now used to US govt transitions & will be uneffected by US elections because their strategy is working since Bush administration & have been able to bend US to their will. They may want to hasten a few things because if someone other than Trump get elected, the negotitations may prolong a bit BUT what has already been decided in Taliban-US deal (like complete US withdrawl) will happen in one way or another.

Good post, people in my experience always look at what others say and rarely at their actions. He’s probably the best President America has had in a while, but I still have my doubts due to the strong sentiments he’s creating within people...

Per the agreement signed on Feb 29, the US will retain no military or contractor force, only civilian diplomatic (and probably a small force to guard the embassy I presume) its in part 1 of the agreement.
