What about jizya, many times jizya in total was banned by Akbar and other kings. It was never continous jizya, Akbar even let Hindus who converted because of jizya adopt hinduism again if they wanted. Besides Muslims payed the same tax except it is called Zakat instead.

It was not just the financial burden but the humiliating method of payment. The payee had to personally go to the collector and pay the tax in a most humiliating manner.
