Made-in-Pakistan JF-17 fighter goes global, desi Tejas yet to take off

.
Exactly!!
But you you really think 1 rafale can take on 4 BVR equipped JF17 and destroy them all? NO! So it seems PAF did the maths all right.n! :)

Well it's not that simple, u know it better than I do..

if u went for next Chinese fighter, will this Logic hold ?

Again, you are right. It is not that simple. So comparing the costs have nothing to do with the platform capability or the air force potency. JF-17 works well with us, it fits our doctrine and we are happy with it. Same goes for IAF and Rafale( or any other plane they finalize).
All this said, getting 4 BVR equipped JFT rather then 1 Rafael may prove to be the wiser choice. THat is the reason the nations with fifth generation planes still keep there 4th generation ones around. :)

Even I support 3 tejas instead of 1 rafale .( though our doctrine requires medium category )

Still the package AESA , passive sensors, spectra , meteor ,mica counts

Quality of iaf is well known to every one. No one can fly the flying coffins except iaf.

Rafale has been ordered by many other air forces, iaf is not the only air force.

And by the way, no deal signed yet for the rafale sale to iaf till now.

First sign the deal, get its delivery and then do the chest thumping.

The so called mother of all deals has already been burried alive as indians cant afford it and the order of mere 36 jets is still waiting to materialize.
at this moment we cannot afford rafale deal this fiscle year brother otherwise we can pay for both rafale and FGFA at the same time.......we have billions of dollars in our reserves.......i hope its clear.....during wartime India wont even think once before spending billions on just weapons.......8-)

Perhaps given that the JF-17 doesn't have a decent BVR missile and also BVR would be the disadvantage for the JF-17 so yea. But you may want to look into life costs or 1 rafale. The uptime, and down times expecially given the JF-17 uses a single RD33 designed for twin engine migs. Frame life as well, the JF-17 has the same building method as a J-7 for the most part.
And then the mission. PAF requires an aircraft that is single engined and multirole and better swing role. The f-16 currently is best suited for this role and the jF-17 falls short of this not just because of of avonics but engines. F-16s fly more and a lot less are needed giving PAF an option to save on air bases and logistics.
If the PAF had a choice in aircraft, they would have either bought more F-16s or Gripens. But they didn't have access to this technology in the 90s.
Engine is the reason why JF-17 doesn't see a lot if any foreign sales. The RD-33 is great engine but not reliable to be a single engine.
