Now, a 'Made-in-Jaipur' armoured vehicle will guard the Parliament to thwart attacks of terrorists on the building.

The Blitzer-armoured anti-terrorist vehicle (ATV) will be stationed as a 'Quick Response ATV'.

Can resist high powered ammunition

According to Jeet & Jeet, Glass and Chemical Pvt Limited, the company that developed the ATV, 'The vehicle is capable of resisting high powered ammunition including SLR, AK47s and several high powered weapons, including hand grenades, and explosion protection.'

'The vehicle has undergone stringent ballistic trials by independent laboratories and end-users,' claims the company.

Made in view of basic two principles -- safety and agility

Blitzer ATV is made in view of basic two principles -- safety and agility, the company's press release said.

The ATV would be handed over to Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

It took almost three years for the manufacturer to complete the ATV.

The 4.5-tonne ATV can move on muddy tracks and on hills easily with a speed of 25 km per hour.

Well CRPF guards parliament. They themself have MPVs and Rakshak placed there for QRT( Quick Reaction Team) in case of contigency. Parliament has motorable road everywhere in it therefore a special two men tracked platform doesn't make sense. It could be used somewhere in Kashmir where armoured vehicle couldn't trek due to their weight. In Anti naxal ops they will blow it to shreds so its of no use there too.

Its best use could be as mobile morcha aka bunker for securing a place with all round defence for short duration. Such as during PM visit to a public rally.

Well that clearly isn't true. The requirement for such a vehicle came about post 26/11 where it was felt that a vehicle was needed to provide point protection in the face of frontal fire as well as elevated attack. In confined spaces where larger armoured vehicles can't operate this vehicle will come in handy.

these vehicles are for fighting "In House" and in "Narrow Corridors"..

do you think a BMP can go through a "Narrow Corridor"??
