It is special version of TATA WINGER as luxury MPV for standard Indian family (5 or 6 members).

Thanks mate- did some research. Yes this is the replacement to the TATA WINGER that will be launched later in 2013 or early 2014. It will replace the TATA WINGER in all its current guises ie Ambulance, Taxi, MPV etc

I am not counting Bharat-Benz, MAN, Volvo, Scania as Indian vehicle because its made 100 % by foreign company except mercedez & volvo localised bharat-benz & volvo more than 90 % .

Fair enough but, like you say, the Merc, Volvo and BB trucks/buses have high Indian content and in the near future will be 100% Indian sourced and manufactured.

Exactly, they aim 100 % localisation and after this we got high technology just like in maruti-suzuki case.

The new Winger will as usual be based on the (new generation) Renault Trafic, which is exactly the vehicle that's been (badly) photoshopped with TATA badging in that image. :)

Indeed- I knew this from first looking at it- these Trafics are very common here in the UK. Anyway- a HUGE step up on the current Winger/old Trafic- wouldn't you say bro? Looking foreward to seeing these things on Indian roads and especially as Ambulances.

It'd be a massive step up fo shizz. The sooner TATA gets crackin' on the new generation Winger, the better.

Ford and VW need to introduce their Transit and Crafter series here ASAP. Let's wait and see. :)

Agreed bro. But do you think there is really that much of a market right now for these size if panel vans for commercial use? In the Indian context they are pretty large are they not? Would the likes of the Transit, Crafter, Sprinter (Merc), Trafic etc find many buyers in India?

Force Motors' 'Traveller 26' passenger van offering is almost 6.8 metres long so I don't see why a Ford Transit/VW Crafter/Mercedes Sprinter built in India with a high degree of localisation both in panel and window van avatars wouldn't do well here. Of course manufacturers would have to have excellent service infrastructure nationwide if they want to fare well in this market. Even if priced slightly higher than what's currently available, Indian consumers, hotel chains and tour operators, will start to realise the benefits of a capable quality product as they have in other vehicle segments. Volvo (India) did it with their coaches and lorries, TATA with their Prima, and now Ashok Leyland with their new 'U truck' range. Our market has seen the creation of new automotive segments over the past decade, and this is no different IMO.

It seems this minibus/panel can market has been neglected by most foreign entrants and most Indian companies also barring a few products.

But I have doubt that they offer such price tag which force traveller offers, starting from 10.87 lacs . I think those vehicle targets luxury segment

Bro, Force sells a large number of panel vans. In fact, out on the streets, there are more FT panel vans than there are passenger versions. There is a market out there - all we need is for manufacturers to take more interest and push hard.

I would think that it's mostly because of localisation issues. Create awareness, bring prices down to compete with other products (yes, I believe it can be done albeit with great difficulty), and you'll have a winner in this market.


P.S: I love the 2014 Ford Transit. :)
