Made-in-India telecom plan to prevent Chinese Trojans

This move is no doubt in collaboration with the US move to keep out Chinese telecom companies out of the US. Like with the US, China will follow such moves with retaliatory steps their own. In the case of the US-led sanction, China have started to replace American systems from their telecoms infrastructure with domestic hardware. China will also find some economic measure to slap down India for any move against their telecoms firms.

While I agree it will be good for India to develop its own telecommunications hardware industry it is however something that India cannot do, like the Chinese have with the immediate, like-for-like replacement of hardware. The result of this move would only mean more reliance on Western suppliers, mostly from the US, so you can see why the US has been pushing for these sanctions against Chinese telecom firms.

The US will not help India develop their own telecom systems, they are happy just selling the equipment, so India will not benefit here. By cutting off the Chinese firms, all they have done is closed themselves off to a cost-effective telecoms market and made themselves more reliant on the West and no doubt initiate a tit-for-tat economic dispute with China.

Going to the reason for sanctions against Chinese telecoms firms, the likelihood of cyber espionage from Chinese firms would be about the same as that from the US, who are equally active in this domain. India does need to obtain indigenous capabilities in this area and pretty much every other area, including the military, but their history with the West has shown that the West are happy to just sell to India and not give the requisite help for India to become self-sufficient. This is something for India to consider before they narrow their own options just to cosy up to the Americans. The best option for India is to look out for her own interests and play both sides against one another to get the best deal for India.

Look at the dates and yrs....why has it come to light so late........if they released now how mnay steps ahead are there.....what measures are in place to resolve this issue asap......The fact that Corporate was able to get around this security nightmare speaks AGAIN our govt needs help. Certain Indian members on this site should form a basic think tank. I can get the ear of one top fellow in govt. At least he will read what we have and it may assist and help them accordingly.

Doesn't mean they cannot. Could be a price point or quality issue. China believes in a free market to it's advantage haha. Any hacking or signifcant work meant for strategic and security purposes wont be available to the public or even to showcase, so their enemies get lulled into a false sense of security.




Under the British , India was kept apart, which in turn created more mistrust between ppl. Use the internet to change that. We cannot become a superpower in the world without creating unity at home across multiple layers.

There are key areas our govt must be completely self sufficient. Obviously, communications is one of those key areas. At least we are moving in the right direction towards indigneous development. But we need massive investment in our educational and recreach sector. Open public private collaboration in terms of equity with strict accoutning practices. Grow socil finance vehicles into a growth platform and model for India and the world. Use India's size. Encourage ppl to invest in their country as a means for private "Social Security". or 401K..more input from the public will create faster goal driven results. I can prove this will work. Public Private partneship can generate faster capital from ppl who want problems that affect their daily quality of life RESOLVED. For example, SeWAGE, FooD practices, safety, education, research, weapons development for jobs, etc. Take each one and higlight a success story.



China poses a significant threat. Spending money on potential products that may need be fixed or discarded does not make economic sense and allows eaiser psying for an questionable neighbor who has done much to arm our enemies and neighbors. That being said, I always welcome any Chinese intentions but we need to let actions speak loduer than words. Due to our inefficiency, see if China would be willing to help us in our capabilities. Would that be better? It would only show the Chinese where our weaknesses and strenghts are. Self Reliance is the word we should have been following since DAY 1 after Independence. Lets get on it.

Unless India finds evidence that the backdoor exist, then they just want to punish Chinese telecom companies for no reason. Also, both Huawei and ZTE work closely with the Indian government and share their source code. They have also invested hundreds of millions of dollars in India. Does India really want to see all the people hired by Huawei lose their jobs? Also, which Indian company can make these equipment?

Read a story in latest outlook business as how equipment procured from Chinese firms such as Harbin and Dongfang and shanghai electric has made life miserable for power project owners in India owing to frequent breakdown boiler and turbines sourced from these companies.

Well the expert of "DNA exclusives" should stop making up stuff. Unless they can find one instant where there is a spy or compromise in the equipment, there is little reason for doubt.

Its another thing to support domestic industries. but talking in air without evidence is misleading.

Its the fault of buyer who can't determine the quality of product they are buing. If you find a company product not suitable, don't buy it or perhaps pay more for quality product.
