Made-in-India stealth fighter project set to take off in 2022

.
What will they design when even the Engine for AMCA has not been finalized yet? All these news articles are just propaganda and hot air.
Don't you think it will be in the proposal before CCS ?

CCS approval is no joke, its headed by PM.

. .
2022 is a start of the Engineering manufacturing program. They said the prototype roll out will be in 2026, so with this time frame I see there will be basic design and detail design phase process once again. If the basic design has already been completed like what they said last year, it should only take about 2 years from now to get their first prototype ready to be roll out.

Take this news with a buckets of salt.

Indians have been hearing such news for many years now.

For example check this news from 2015. It was originally designed for the US engine but US refused to share the tech and that proposal died. The issue is no one is willing to give us the engine tech to power the AMCA. Talking about design completion when engine itself is not finalised is just hot air. The engine will not be finalized until the MRFA contract has been finalized. This entire process to finalize the engine for AMCA will take at least another 3 years. Then it will take another year or two to re-design the AMCA for that new engine and then another couple of years to build the prototypes.

So in another 5 years or so, the AMCA will have another takeoff? Since India can’t even design a engine for LCA, it certain will not be able to design a stealth super cruise engine. And such engine are not for export by the US. India should focus on developing realistic projects instead of a project that everyone on PDF can refute.

The best bet for India is to select Su-75 for the MRFA deal which should allow the same Russian engine for AMCA too.

The engine is not an issue, India previously hopes that it can produce F 414 engine from GE, and yes it is not easy to make GE and US approve such plan, but as far as I know India is now just accepting that they only can buy F414 engine.

If India keep with its ambitious plan and keep finding any Western companies wanting to give them TOT on engine and make them produce the engine in India it will surely make the program get delayed again, maybe what happen with Tejas program will likely happen again in AMCA program

Any indication India is joining or wants to license producing the KFX/IFX?

There is no indication of that, it could be difficult to even license producing KFX/IFX since based on latest renegotiation deal, Indonesia is the only component supplier of KFX/IFX outside Korea for fuselage and will produce 50% of wings, tails, etc.

But India can do a deal like what happen with C 295 order, in which they will only do assembling and system integration job, no component production. With USA agree on LM plan to produce F16 V in India, so I think there will be no obstacle to allow India assemble KFX/IFX in their country if such deal is exist.

South Korea in 2019 September wants to have another partner after Indonesia seems reluctant to continue the program (114 Indonesian engineers were going back home in May 2020 after the completion of detail design in the end of 2019). But the partner they want to seek should back them with technology, it is more on partner with capable technology in aerospace that Korean needs. Previously European consortium wanted to join KFX/IFX program and ready to fund the program and become 20 % financial supporter (before they have their own program like Tempest)

KAI 'Open' to Additional Foreign Partners on KFX

17 Oktober 2019

The next-generation KFX fighter aircraft is expected to enter series production in the mid-2020s. To support its development additional foreign companies could be contracted to provide assistance (photo : AIN)

Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) is open to considering additional foreign partners on its project to develop the Korean Fighter Experimental (KFX) aircraft, Jane's has learnt. The potential move comes as the KFX project faces challenges related to investment and capabilities.

Due to funding shortages, Indonesia - Korea's KFX development partner - has stalled on about KRW300 billion (USD253 million) in costs to support its involvement in the project, while local industry faces obstacles to develop some critical technologies for the platform.

A KAI official, who did not want to be identified, told Jane's at the Seoul International Aerospace & Defense Exhibition (ADEX) on 16 October that the KFX development project is still regarded as "open" in terms of technology partners. "This is still not finalised," he said in reference to KFX development alliances. "We could consider additional partners in the future."

Under a defence offset package linked to South Korea's 2014 procurement of the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II, the US corporation is already positioned as a technical partner on the KFX. Lockheed Martin is obligated to provide assistance across 21 technology suites including flight controls, avionics, systems integration, materials, and unspecified fighter aircraft weaponry.

However, the US government has also refused to export several technology suites under offsets, forcing South Korea to seek to develop these systems indigenously. These suites are related to the active electronically scanned array (AESA) systems, electro-optical targeting pods, infrared search and track systems, and radio frequency jammers.

Elta Systems, a subsidiary of Israel Aerospace Industries, is providing assistance to South Korean firm Hanwha Systems to develop the KFX's AESA radar.

Jane's understands that companies including Saab, Airbus and Boeing could also position themselves as future partners on the KFX, although the scope of that engagement would be subject to requirements, the structure of the partnership, and funding.

Amca Mk1 comes with F414 engine. Atleast 2 squadrons. After that Mk2 would come with an JV engine either with Snecma or RR.

Dont talk nonsense here, India has ordered around 100 F 414 engine for their Tejas MK2 program.

technology wise, your right, only a European country or European consortium could provide technologies Korea lacks, especially Engine technology and datalink technology (which all nations are reluctant to share)
