Made in Bangladesh - Assualt Rifles

Well the world has moved on to 5.56..may be you should too.

Well, it is true. The 5.56 NATO rounds are generally more superior as far as assault rifles (AR) are concerned.

Although, 7.62 ones aren't outdated or anything. Both types have advantages depending on the situation. But in most cases, 5.56 rounds yield better results.

Of-course, many machine gun types today still use the 7.62 with the exception of the like of the M-249 SAW.

Well because of recent experiences in the Afghan War and in Iraq - the Jury is still out on the 5.56 ! Hence why the Americans, I think, are designing another caliber that is between the 5.56 and the 7.62 !

They already have:-

SCAR-L, Mk 16 Mod 0 (capable of holding 5.56 rounds):

SCAR-H, Mk 17 Mod 0 (7.62 rounds):

5.56 rounds help the soldiers carry more of the rounds to the battle field increasing his efficiency.

Is it ok to ask some questions, hoping they are not classified secret:
- how many AK's can we produce in a day?
- can we produce AK ammunition also?
- how much do they cost to produce?
- how long does it take to train an average Bangladeshi from the street to aim and shoot properly?
- what is the total number of our combatant force, including Ansar and VDP who are equipped with these ground infantry weapons?

I'm trying to answer some of these queries with my little knowledge:

- how many AK's can we produce in a day?
- can we produce AK ammunition also?

How many we can produce a day I don't know but we are allowed to produce as many as we need under ToT from China and yes AK ammunition is produced locally. See the links below:

- what is the total number of our combatant force, including Ansar and VDP who are equipped with these ground infantry weapons?

Army- According to *************** it's 200000 personnel though it's an old update I think it's around 250000 now.

Navy- it's 24000 personnel
http://www.***************/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=90&Itemid=125

Air Force- It's 17000 personnel not reliable I think it's more than 20000 now.
http://www.***************/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=79&Itemid=127

Reserve- Current number is not given in bdmilitary site, it's to be raised to 1 million within 2021.
http://www.***************/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=327&Itemid=50

BDR- It's 67000+ personnel.
http://www.***************/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=109&Itemid=129

BCG- It's more than 1000 personnel.

Thanks for answering my question.

The above two figures caught my eye. So together with reserve and Ansar VDP, we have a total of 6-7 million potential infantry in a total war situation. Do all of them have training with the new Type 81 rifle? If not is there a plan to give them training?

I think we can significantly leverage our professional army in a total war if all professional soldiers can be made NCO while the Ansar VDP force works under them as infantry. Just an idea I was thinking about. Of course this will require that the Ansar VDP has adequate training to carry out the orders of the professional soldiers.

Yeah....reserve and Ansar VDP together is a huge. There are two types of reserve forces- the retired armed forces member who are under 55 years old and another type is BNCC (Bangladesh National Cadet Corps). Currently the number of retired members is probably 65k which is a completely skilled force as they were once serving armed forces. BNCC is divided more in 3 wings like armed forces. All 3 wings are trained by army, navy and air force personnel respectively. So, BNCC has almost 30-40% training of armed forces which could really add some striking value during war time. Somewhere I read that under forces goal 2030 the number of reserve force is set to make it 2.5 million within 2025. Though my brother (an ex-navy official) told me that BNCC at most might help professional forces in keeping supply line okay and support in medical core at war time, I don't agree with him on this as most military officials I found are a sort of arrogant regarding civilian people, one officer who joins forces after HSC doesn't even properly value one who joins after completing education like doctor, engineer or education core. So, I think BNCC can be a valuable add on during war.

I'm not sure if all Ansar VDP members are capable to operate Type 81 rifle but so far I know all are capable to at least operate a rifle. Among them Ansar whose number is 20k is a professional para-military troop. They are serving aside police, army etc. Probably good number of Ansar is now deployed at CHT. Strange thing is the total number of Ansar VDP during Zia's term stood to 9 million while the population was half of now. Zia definitely had some views over our defense, security. That time raising big armed forces would raise many peoples' eye brows, so he did it some other way.

BD-08 mk 2 came out, featuring some minor improvements and wooden parts replaced by composite metal ones and Light Machine Gun variant also came out
BD-14 is a great weapon which would also be exported once production rate is maximised.
In 2015,we successfully tested 60 mm and 82 mm mortars and mortar shells.
Also we got ToT of WS-22 MLRS and being assembled by BMTF.
