Although, we do use the M-16, M-4 and K-2.

Well because of recent experiences in the Afghan War and in Iraq - the Jury is still out on the 5.56 ! Hence why the Americans, I think, are designing another caliber that is between the 5.56 and the 7.62 !

Bcs they are insurgencies and not battles fought b/n armies. You may know the theory behind 5.56..that it will wound the soldier, which causes more soldiers to be tied down in rescuing their comrades than moving forward. But groups like Al Qeada, Taliban doesn't really believe in 'helping your comrade in need in battlefield' theory. So 7.62 is best suited for COIN operations.

I remember Abu Zolfiqar mentioned in a post that he was from FATA. Most of Pakistan is of course not like that.

1. We have studied various battle-field reports and have decided to stick to 7.62.

2. Any infantry soldier knows the effective range with naked eye for the average soldier is 300 yds.Beyond that telescope is required. The range of a standard rifle is really dependent on the human eye.
