What's new

M134 "Minigun" is now operational with PAA Helicopters

But these days we are hardly seeing MG1A3 on Bells. Almost all of them have FN MAG. The news would be if they're replacing the FAN MAG. Even though, FN MAG was procured specifically to be pintle mounted on Bell 412.
Didn't pay much attention, however i noticed those that participated in Pakistan Day Parade last year certainly had an MG-3 mounted on each side.

Well, maybe you're right. I'll ask around.

They may have been on the those UH-1s but news is that PAA intends to replace the MG-1A3 with miniguns on it's fleet.
Na kr yr.
Its too expansive to believe ...........
Both are different guns meant for different purpose. Minigun is likely to be part of Aviation fleet only.

I misunderstood.
Lets hope we will see couple of Huey with Minigun on 23rd March Parade this year :pakistan:

Great news. Replace existing MG3s with different calibers of Gatling gun. We are going to need a lot of ammo for it. But it will have a deadly impact and will prove extremely useful on LOC and international border alike. It is further suggested that our tanks and APCs should also be equipped with this gun.
MG3 is also useful weapon and should not be discarded rather should be used along with minigun and other calibers of Gatling gun.

These guns have been in service for many years but just a few were obtained. 2-3 years back saw it in one of the videos of ops prepared by ISPR.

But it seems now they numbers have increased. But what to do with them now when ops intensity has died down.

The M134 Minigun is a 7.62×51mm NATO, six-barrel rotary machine gun with a high rate of fire (2,000 to 6,000 rounds per minute) which can also fire at a high sustained rate.
It features Gatling-style rotating barrels with an external power source, normally an electric motor.
The "Mini" in the name is in comparison to larger caliber designs that use a rotary barrel design, such as General Electric's earlier 20-millimeter M61 Vulcan, and "gun" for the use of rifle caliber bullets instead of shells used by an autocannon.

The M134 will replace the old MG1A3 general-purpose machine guns for the Pakistan Army Aviation Corps.
