Lyari grenade attack: Brother of provincial minister killed

KARACHI: Akbar Nagori, brother of Sindh Minister for Katchi Abadi Jawed Nagori succumbed to his injuries, here on Friday late night.
He had received multiple injuries in a hand grenade attack at the office of the minister, located at Shah Waliullah Road, Lyari.
According to police the office of Nagori was attacked with firing and grenades on Friday evening. Resultantly six people were injured and brought to the Civil Hospital Karachi, where Akbar Nagori died during treatment.

Chief minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah has taken notice of the incident and sought a detailed report from the Inspector General Police Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali.
Deputy Inspector General Police, South Dr. Jamil has held elements of the gang war responsible for the attack.
He termed the assault as a reaction to the successful operation against criminal gangs in Lyari by Law Enforcement Agencies.
According to him, 32 gang warfare suspects have been arrested during last 30 days.
The DIG further said that strict action would be taken against the involved gang.
Meanwhile, heavy contingent of police cordoned off Lyari town, sealed entry and exit points and started a search operation in several areas of Lyari.
