outside food not allowed.Go but don't eat!
Charectoristics of a non serious nation, image that haunts french history to the point of it being used in jokes frequently
This is precisely my point, you cater to the wishes of the guest of honor. I doubt the French President considers the Iranian President as an honorable guest.
Snails, froglegs?Fish is no problem...problem seems to be french mindset
My my, what eloquence. And so much substance too? A piece rife with astute observations.French are total losers. They don't know how to do diplomacy. That's why they always lost to the Brits during their empire days.
France is an irrelevant country in the world pretending to be important by hanging onto the coattail of the US.
You won't see Chinese or Americans fight about food when doing diplomacy. They will serve the food their guests want and get deals done. The French don't care about getting deals done, they care about petty things like having wine.
That's why the Americans laugh at the French all the time.
It would be very appropriate for France to remove the red part and blue part of their flag and fly the remaining part.
Ah you missed one CRITICAL difference! It says they served Obama a non-vegetarian dish. But it doesn't say Modi (or anybody else there) was also FORCED to eat a non-vegetarian dish. Modi (and others) probably had a vegetarian dish themselves! The accommodation of having different dishes worked out. Everybody was happy.
However the Iranian President says EVERYBODY must eat a halal dinner and EVERYBODY also can not drink wine. So unlike Modi he was only accommodating himself at the expense of everybody else.
If Obama said Modi had to eat the same non-vegetarian dish he was eating I'm sure Modi would have declined too. Then you'd call Obama a hero and Modi a bad host.
Nowhere in the article or anywhere else I noticed where Iran made a demand that everybody eat Halal on the table. Rouhini did insist that no wine be present on the table, which may be a reason good enough for the French to go to war !! Iranian requests are not that off the wall, folks make stranger requests.
The French are more gungho about their traditions.
This reminds me Pierre the French Fighter Pilot Joke !!!
Mais non, c'est sacrilègethe President because he prefers ketchup on his filet mignon.

OP has two sources, one is Jihadwatch ( for all it is worth) which is claiming Iran demanded Halal food , where the second link ( Washington Post) is stating Iran requested that only wine be not present on the table. There is no report of Iran demanding everybody ( including the French ) dines only halal food.
France Cancels Dinner Over Iranian President's Wine-Free Request
France blows off dinner with Iran over wine spat | New York Post
France won't dine without wine, cancels dinner with Iran over menu dispute - Washington Times
France won’t dine with Iran unless wine is served - The Washington Post
So the OP should have just said there was a wine issue since the food apparently wasn't an issue.
