ummm if a western actor portrayed an asian in a stereotypical way there would be a huge conterversy. btw it's the africans themselves who find this offensive. are you going to explain to them how it's all ok and there's nothing wrong?

Your problem is that you are only seeing race, not nationalities. Any controversy in a western film is foremost a domestic controversy as even Hollywood film does not trigger protest in China or elsewhere. For Hollywood, those who are offended and those who are deprived of their opportunities are Asian Americans, and yes they do protest. As for Chinese nationals on the other hand, seeing western stereotypical portrait is expected and pretty standard affair, as the western media has yet to shine any positive light on China in general.
