Lumbar Epidural Injection .. Sciatica

Please please, anaesthesiologist have nothing to do with this injection. Neurosurgeon or orthopaedic surgeon (Depends) can do such procedures.

Are you sure the neurosurgeon or the orthopedic surgeon will have the time to deliver the injection him/her self. I dont think so. He will probably relegate duty to a nurse or a technologist. It is better to have the injection by some one who is doing it daily. If I had to do it myself I would get it done by an anesthetist since, even a orthopedic surgeon is not doing it every day. Trust me on that.

.
I already know enough. They are the best ones who can inject epidural injections since they are the most experienced. They do spinal anesthesia daily. It is better to go to them for an injection of this type than going to go to some one who just injects a few of them each year. Why risk a nerve damage?

Man stop ur crap. Anesthesiologists??? i never heard such specialist hahaaa . if somebody took Anesthesia daily they become highly tolerated and become quite normal even after drug administration.

Then you should stop speaking now. Since I am a doctor and you are not. You do not know about anesthesiology and you are commenting on this thread? What gives you the right?

Why Indians have to resist everything Pakistani? Is that where their national "unity" come from or what? Spinal anesthesia is a standard pre-operative procedure. You are so ignorant.

I have worked 3 month with Dr. M A Qureshi as a trainee while doing my electives. I never saw him asking an anaesthesiologist to do the procedure, he himself would do it all the time. Its not about injecting only, its also about the quantity of the drug. What if, God forbids, something goes wrong even if the chances are minimum? An anaesthesiologist doesn't know how to tackle complications during the procedure.

I know malpractice is being done in Pakistan, its not new to me. I have seen technicians doing open laprotomy, epidural injection is not a big deal.

Its better to be always on the safe edge... rest is the wish of the patient and attendant.

I bet, Dr. Anil Kumar must be a member of that doc's team.

Nothing to be afraid of. Normal lumbar puncture injection thats all. The hype & pain is more pschycological than physical.
All she'll feel is a bit of a prick and some pressure, no need for sedation even as a local does just fine if your brave enough. The positioning is what is difficult (fetal either lying on a side or sitting) rest is nothing.
Besides anaesthetists, the other doctors who routinely perform LPs are either Oncologists or the doctors on an Oncologists team as plenty of treatment regimes require chemo LPs either as a prophylactic or routine treatment.
Nothing to be scared of really 3.75 years of methotrexate & L Aspirigenase ITs experience talking (weekly for a year 1/2 monthly for the remainder of my hybrid ALL regime (I was started out on UK ALL-12 then shifted to BFM)).
Now bone marrow aspirations especially Trephine biopsies were something to be terrified of. :-)

after two months of Sciatica pain , doctor has prescribed my mother a Lumbar Epidural Injection .

i have read on internet about this & this look scary .. lots of comment about unbearable pain ..
i have said my mother that test will be easy & no pain .. & now after reading all comments about this on internet i am starting to worry .. :frown:

anyone familiar with this injection ?

My mother has a back and shoulder problems with frozen shoulders and back and nerve pressed she has been suffering for the past 20 years and took many injections and painkillers there is a long list and what not now the pain strikes atleast 3 times a year and is a hell she has to be rushed to emergency, I find all medicines useless and harmful to stomach.

PM me If you like to try it out I can refer to a person for a permanent treatment after much of a extensive research we're coming to Pakistan in a couple of months and could possibly visit him definitely.

Do you want a doctor's opinion on this? I'm back in India and on vacation for the next six months.I can ask around for you,my sister is a doctor completing her residency in South Africa.I can can talk to her peers if you want.

Yes u r right physical therapy will definitely heal the pain in a very good manner but it is quite lengthy and will be super expensive treatment but results are quite good.........
