Tamil sea prowess is a well established, the Chola navy once controlled the Bay of Bengal and Straits of Malacca sea trade route. The current situation of Tamilnadu fishermen reflects the plight of Tamils

Harassment and killing by Indian/Lankan Navy and recently 2711 Tamil fishermen perished in the sea due to the cyclone. Where was the mighty Indian navy ?

If Tamilnadu is an independent country, such incidents will not occur to Tamils e.g when LTTE was controlling the sea Tamilnadu fishermen's lives were safe guarded by LTTE navy.

LTTE was working on a missile (rocket) at the time of their defeat. LTTE air wing was originally developed by an engineer with Ph.D degree in aeronautics from MIT. He left a job with an American company and came back to Tamil eelam. He died during the war.

Even though LTTE airpower were primitive at best. They were able to evade much sophisticated and some what modern Sri Lanka Air Force defenses.

However, LTTE naval war crafts were made with commendable ingenuity. The had pioneered the art of suicide attacks and made considerable progress with things they had on make and mend basis. It was the sea tigers which introduced new tactics to the naval wars around the island of Sri Lanka and Sri Lankan Navy had to adopt to them or perished. This trend was only reversed in the 4th Eelam war.
