Aselsan bags national missile system contract

Turkey’s leading military electronics company Aselsan and the Undersecretariat for Defence Industries, or SSM, have signed two major contracts for the development of indigenous low and medium altitude air defence missile systems, the company revealed in a special press release on Monday.

Request for proposal for the low level air defence system (T-LALADMIS) was first issued by SSM in September 2008, and entails the procurement of 18 self-propelled, armored air defence systems, support and training equipment, maintenance tools, spare parts and other relevant services and documents required for the efficient operation of the systems. An option also exists for 27 additional such systems in the immediate future.

Also awarded to Aselsan is a medium-range air defence system development program, dubbed T-MALADMIS, and it entails direct procurement of one medium altitude air defense missile system composed of one battalion headquarters and headquarters company and three batteries, each of which has a sufficient amount of launchers, missiles, radars, command-control and communication systems and other support equipment.

Cost of Aselsan’s T-LALADMIS program design and development is 314,920,445 EURO, while T-MALADMIS amounts to 241,392,218 EURO.

Turkey is also seeking to acquire 12 long-range air defence systems as part of SSM’s $4 billion T-LORADMIS program. USA-based Patriot PAC-3 and Russia’s S-300 are currently favorites in a tough competition against China’s HQ-9 and European Aster-30 air defence systems.

-Development of National seeker heads for Low/Medium Altitude SAM's continuing.
-Both Air defence system will use different Low/Medium Altitude Domestic Search Radar
-Low Altitude Otonom and Low Altitude Towed SAM's will launch same missiles
-Kalkan 3D domestic radar will be used as main search radar for Medium Altitude SAM project.
-In trials, Kalkan 3D radar performed perfect capabilities when It is compared with Western equivalents. Serial production is continuing...

Aselsan underlines a point in magazine that After Low/Medium Altitude SAM development programs and Long range missile tender, Aselsan along with other Turkish defence compaines working on Missile systems will come to maturity level to develop Domestic Long Range Air/Missile defence system indigenously (by 2020)...

It is true that AKP followed Dervis' economic plans but you have to give them credit for atleast being more honest than others. they still steal and reward their own partisans but atleast not as much as others....

Please stop the bullsh!t, Most Project, Programs and R&D is now underway all because of the AKP great achievements in economical issues. AKP in charge nearly for 10 years. Saying that akp has noting to do with has no meaning at all. Akp government also has very talented economists like mehmet şimşek.

It was Kemal Dervish who started the reforms that helpt turkeys economical growth.
Before he came to turkey he was working for IMF.

But I must say that selling turkeys infrastructure is not worth applauding.
AKP is unfurtionatly continuing to sell out a lot of stat owed companies.

Sudden start ? Who saied it ?

-MILGEM, Development of a domestic corvette based on national construction capabilities aren't started suddenly with an HOKUS-Pokus agreement or technology. It's technological background and capability level to commence this project is way before than AKP. This project is officially launched in 1990's and has nothing to do with any politic figures... Politics are just desicion makers, Rest is about capability, technology level, experience and old efforts of institutes. Nothing brings with sudden as someone tells in their dreams...

-T-129 ATAK, I don't know what "AR-GE-2004" term reminds you but It is the main purpose of going a semi-domestic attack helicopter with cancelling first ATAK-1 tender (AH-1Z) in order to integrate own domestic avionics-mission computers and electro-optics. AR-GE 2004 projects, the avionics developed until this dates and many other electronics to be integrated on T-129 Atak has nothing to do with any politic figures. The beggining story of those projects to modify own helicopter platform in accordance with own benefits for future is way before than AKP or some other politic figures.


Politicians are just desicion makers and coordinates the rules in accordance with global conjunctures of the World. Neither they invest their own money, nor They have technology to commence/develop a sh@t so Ignoring all old backgrounds/efforts of those proud Turkish institute to do credit politic figures with using Turkish engineers' 30-40 years experience/efforts is shamefull. Nothing brings with a magic. All of those programs need huge huge experiences-efforts. That's why So less countries have such competitive defence products/programs... This is not a thing that can be developed within 10 years...

so What AKP did ? AKP encouraged Turkish institutes to go more domestic programs and accelerated investments under a program arranged by years and mores. Systematic efforts bring more success in this field but Nothing started with AKP ERA as someone mentioned.
