This article talks about the air dominance abilities of the USAF in modern history. The air forces around the world which could potentially threaten US interests are examined and hence the need for F-22s explained in detail. Pakistan, India, China are all mentioned and their airforce capabilities - current and future, examined. I have put this article in the aviation section bcos it does not seem to be in any other category.

I have found this an interesting read. ENJOY!

[India's] relationship with Pakistan remains contentious

Yep, that's all there is about Pakistan. Lots about India, China and Russia, though. Good article, but there wasn't really any new information in there. Maybe you liked it for all its praise of India, and deservedly so I must say.

As for "Indian quest for air dominance", well, it has long been the great Indian ambition to be the absolute superpower of the region, be it military, economic, political and so on. The major hurdles are China and Pakistan, but particularly the former. Let's see how it pans out.

In reply to Murdakh

Would you agree that by Fielding 230 SU30MKI & Phalcon Awacs IAF is looking to Air dominance over its Skies.

In my view PAF can effectively counter IAF only with J-11. Any comments?

Oh yes when we are talking about Air Dominance J-11 is a Bad As- Fighter it is a tested fighter but if we look at J-10 or even Jf-17 they are not tested, The outcome might be unthinkable, F-16 yes we have been tested and know its capabilities with a good pilot it can be awaking call for the Indians and yes our pilots are good there is no doubt even my Indian couterparts will agree that our CCS is second to none but when it comes to mine is bigger than yours than SU-30 is bigger.
My post is not to degrade PAF I will died before doing that, my conclusions are based on my flying experience in actual Air to Air Combat.

Hi,

Haven't we all been crying tears over all that. Most pakistanis think that any criticism of PAF means that a person is anti pakistani---we must all learn to agree to disagree.

Energon.

The MMRCA contract for 126 FIGHTERS are for new strike options.

I believe the SU30MKI will be the main Air dominance/ combat plane for IAF until PAK FA comes in 2020+

The MRCA will have AESA and BVR but its the strike capability that the MMRCA winnerbrings that IAF is looking to boost.

I think that's nonsense. What major advantages does J-11 have over J-10? Only range and twin engines (thrust to weight ratio). Range can be fixed with aerial refuelling, thrust/weight ratio fixed with a good engine in the J-10.

HJ786.

To counter IAF massive fleet of 230 FLANKERS PAF will need more than
36 FC20..

Thats a tiny order just 36 fighters and even then PAF will have to wait until 2014 by which time IAF will

1. inducted their entire order of SU30 MKI 230 planes

2. INDUCTED tanche 3 of the mki which includes IBRIS AESA radar and the KH172 ram jet BVR MISSLE

3. Have all of these data linked to at least 6 Phalcon AWACS BY THEN..

36 fc20 will make no difference
