Loot and plunder by Indian army after liberation war in 1971

Nothing special! Just to uncover the Indian terrorism and looting history.;)

The world is talking about terrorism in Pakistan and not India, US is imposing sactions on organisations in Pak, in 2002 it was Musharraf who under pressure of US had to ban several organisations, so who is terrorist now?? But if talking about an event 35 years old gives you solace pls go ahead.

But why rake this issue which is 35 years old, it is very difficult to ascertain what is fact and what is fiction.

I sincerely hope Indians will stop projecting the fiction still going on for the last 35 years.

honestly I am not bothered about some thing we can't change but if it is possible from here onwards to make a change in a positive way, I would lend my ear...

If it is two-way change then it will work positively otherwise onesided change is taken as weakness by the bullying neighbours.

The "Looting and Plundering" is too harsh word for indian soldier that time. But it is also the fact that, after victory day they did not act as good as an allied force. They have taken all the armament captured from Pak army which suppose to be Bangladesh's property. Also Indhira Ghandi wanted to squeeze the most out of Pakistan, so she took Pak soldier with them too. Finally they got down in Shimla got the accord in favor of India, without ignoring Bangladesh's concern. She also gave immunity to the Pakistani soldiers who committed crimes.. On the other hand Pak did not want to surrender to or deal with Bangladesh as they knew they would be accountable for the acts they did. The eastern command secretly made arrangement with Indian army and tried with UN for the terms of surrender. I should say India-Pakistan conspiracy on those final days....

Hope this will clear some of the confusion....

@ iajdani

thanks for this info, this is possible that there is truth in this, but we can't change any thing now to what happened, our focus should be how there can be peace in this tensed (SE Asia) area and we can prosper.

This "Looting and Plundering" allegations are just allegations.I have read many books writtenby "Mukti Juddhos" and no where have anyone mentioned that the Indian Army acted dishonestly or dishonourably. I wold very much like to see references by Bengali freedom fighters who said otherwise.

What did India steal? Bangladesh ot many of the Chafee tanks, Kept allthe Sabres and fighters left behind byPakistan . India even gve a shp to the BN.

Yet revisionist historians of the Jamaat Party are hell bent on potraying that INdian army looted. But who else outside that party and outside Pakistan actually belives tht?

Lets read some references and articles on this allegation. aFter all many of the Sector Commanders, Mukti Fauj etc would have seen the IA up close.

India did not give immunity to Pakistani POWs unilaterally. It was always a joint decision by the Bangladeshi government and the Indian Government not to press war crime charges against the shortlisted generals. Why did the bangladeshi government succumb? because there were thousands of bengali officers and men of the PA, PAF and PN who were in internment camps in West Pakistan. If Indian and Bangladesh did not release the 92000 POWs, Bengalis had more to suffer because thosuands of them were prisoners in the west.

Why blame India?

It was the Indians that originally covered up the looting and theft by the Indian soldiers. Barrister Moudud Ahmed in his books has shown precisely what the Indians took and the feeling of resentment by the Freedom Fighters who were likely to have turned their guns on the Indian soldiers had they not been ordered to leave Bangladesh.

Munshiji,

If you have this book by the barrister - can you list out what exactly was taken? I want to research this at my end.

in all the books and articles i have read by bangla freedom fighters, IHave not heard anything negative in terms oflooting being written. Yes some have written about the control of RAW etc etcm but never read of any looting other than the common refrain on internet fora.

Well, even IF Indian Army looted Bangladesh then Bangladeshis still should be thankful to India for helping them! They could never get freedom from us without India's Help!

Barrister Moudud is not a neutral source. He is a BNP minister and if I am not wrong he is in jail now for corruption.
About the looting, yes there was looting.I heard it from a freedom fighter who is now a teacher.Believing it or not depends on you.

We are thankful, but its just that they should not have done this as they lost the respect they gained by doing low things like looting.Allied army is not supposed to loot.
We never disagree with the fact India helped us.Check the BD media if you want to know more.

As i said, I asked details of looting - no one has ever given it. Was this published in the papers? was it published in any memoirs by freedom fighters? was this published in any government published report? please quote sources.

what was looted? did soldiers break into houses and stole jewelry? televisions? items? please give details.

I am genuinely interested in learning about the said 'looting'

But i have never read any details - anywhere. Most posts on internet fora seem like afterthoughts to me.
